At least for Johny he actually has said he'd love to play here and his dads with the organization in a small capacity.

The rest are fan fiction. Put a tooth under your pillow and maybe fletcher will get them all to sign vet mins to play for their childhood dream team.

First, you sell the plan to fans as rebuilding. Tough sell, given this is Philly, but whatever. We went through the Sixers rebuild for 10 years. After groaning, we will come around.

Then you do the long shot. Lets say it doesn't work? What then? Your salaries are largely gone, you still have 2 of Hayes +JVR/Voracek for mentoring. Your picks are going to be high ones.

You are still in a better position than rolling with the current corps + the youth movement (which lets face it, currently rests 50% on hope rather than projection) for a shot at the cup.

You may not like it, but I think its brilliant.

Yeah. Good guess. Somehow I always thought you were Peter Richard. Probably because your favorite poster here keeps calling you Peter Dikk (singular).

No favorites here and no animosity towards anyone. People take things so seriously it seems.

If I had to pick a fav poster. Nc flyers fan wins.

Oh and here s a question for everyone. Since everyone likes to bring up the history. Read for years but only joined a year or two ago. When you guys say login had previous avatars banned was he Daryl Stanley before. Haven’t seen that name for awhile. Hard to remember before I started conversing.

Also where is j matchet or whatever and can’t remember others that posted a bunch

Looks like the game is on NHL network tonight. They have a special on the Humboldt Broncos right now.

One bad season does not change the projections. That is an overreaction by fans.

4 straight 50 goal seasons...crazy he’s not in. Yes his numbers were Cam Neely like.

I'm ok with selling off veterans. As of now. The lightning are the class of the NHL. Ive been looking hard at their cap situation. They have it broken up as such.

High paid (over 6 per)
Stamkos kucherov Hedman vasi point mcdonaugh All one the best at their positions minus McDonough who is still a quality vet but no longer elite

Our high paid
Jvr giroux jake hayes provy. Yeah you can see we are not getting our moneys worth here.

Medium paid. (4-6 million)
Cirelli killorn palat Johnson gorde sergachev. Middle 6 offensive players and 2nd pair defenseman. Money well spent.

Our medium paid
Tk coots ghost. Incredible value in coots. Tk slotted right for his contributions. Ghost - yeah... but you'll notice this list again doesn't go nearly as far as there's does.

Low paid non min/elc (above 1 mill below 4 million)
Coleman Cermak rutta mcelhenny.. quality for cheap. Total between all 4 players under 8 million combined. Rest their teams fills out on elc /mins

Low paid non min / elc us
Braun hagg elliot lindblom laughton raffl nak gus sanheim myers. Lot of names in this bucket.

When you look at the difference in standard. Lightning pay for a premium player at each position. 2 top centers. A top scoring wing. A top pairing d pairing. And a franchise goalie. We spend that money on not those things. While we have some value in our mid tier rankings its clear we don't have enough of those level of players. Our depth. And at the end its clear we are paying too many low value players to fill out our roster to make up for the lack of mid tier players.

When you look at the next 3 years in hoping we grow into those ranks. Who is in each tier with their next contracts if we cleared out the top contracts who quite frankly don't belong there? How do we achieve those levels. When I look we only have 3 potential high paid players (coots hart provy) i dont see anyone else growing into it within 3 years. Mid tier players is the group i see growing (laughton myers sanheim farabee lindblom). And we have plenty of prospects on elc to fill out the roster.

How do you close the gap ?

And a season with 48!

Kerr 655 games 370 goals 304 assists 674 points
Neely 726 games 395 goals 299 assists 694 points

Only 20 more points in 71 more games.

So this team is teetering on getting in or getting out. I’m betting on the later. Let the arena open up fully so the season ticket holders can rain down hell on this complacent money grabbing team. I’ve never been so bored and disgusted watching any sports team ever.

To be clear, when the Canadians had that advantage, it was just having the first pick out of the QMJL. They didn't have the rights to all Canadian players. That was also a long time ago.
- MJL

Yes, it was a long time ago but it was still relevant to those early 70's teams and that is what I was referring to since Scotty Bowman as coach really benefitted from it. But yes, the Canadiens also drafted quite well also. The point was less about the draft and more about how Bowman was always an opportunist, in Montreal, Pittsburgh and Detroit. I never took a team that had good but no great talent and elevated them to another level.

Well. At least there may be blood I guess. After this week if it goes wrong I will be rooting hard for the better late than never surprising and good return of mr Morin. Keep that porch clean.

Weird that people will say Coots is not a #1 C on a contender, yet you look at this list of these so-called best C's in the league, and outside of Sid and Geno, none of them have won poop. Stamkos played like 2mins of their Cup run and the rest are... kinda unaccomplished. Also, pretty sure I can easily think of a half-dozen or more Cs that are better today than Jack Eichel, possibly including Coots lol.
- Tomahawk

Are you joking?

Tampa Bay has seen multiple Stanley Cup Finals in recent years. If Stamkos wasn’t part of them all, well that’s a disadvantage to Tampa. Stamkos was also on the ice for two minutes as scored a goal.

As for Eichel, Matthews or McDavid who are all like 24 years of age each, they were drafted on the a crappy team and expected to lead the charge. These guys have nothing but time.

Arguing in favor of Sean Couturier to be in this class is laughable.
It doesn’t fit their narrative though, don’t point things out like that
- ClaudeFather

You love that word narrative but what about your narrative. Is Sean Couturier a dominant center? A franchise game changer?

It was last year, and it was #17. This year, same list, it is #18 (the list on nhl.com).

Some doubt about whether Stamkos is still going to play center going forward. He has been on Point's wing and on Cirelli's wing this season. A poster (Tomahawk, who you will notice has switched team allegiance yet again) pointed out that Eichel has somewhat surprisingly underwhelming 5-on-5 points/60 and his high ppg could be an artefact of very large minutes for a 1C.

And you missed the two young studs: Aho and Point, and the upcoming young stud, Petersson. Then there is Barkov, who tends to fly under the radar because he plays in Florida.

I just don't see the massive injustice in simultaneously acknowledging that Couts is a very good player but not a top 10 center. The evidence tilts that way.

- PT21

I didn’t miss anything. All I needed to do was name 10 centers and I don’t have the time to spend on here all day time type ridiculously posts.

The Flyers forwards often get all caught deep on turnovers, and thus they cannot get back on the back check. That shot from Coyle just now is a perfect example, he was the trailer on that rush and was left wide open for a good shot on goal.
