Well technically he is right, is he not?
The rushed player might not be as good as he could have been, and yet still better than his current competition for his role?

For a few years, absolutely. Then he started showing up on the required reporting day rather than early, and in so-so physical condition. Not exactly model leadership by that point.
Off-ice stuff aside with Richards, he was NEVER the Flyers' hardest-working player at practice. Giroux is. Game nights, Richards gave his absolute 100 percent. That much was beyond reproach. He worked and competed his tail off in games.
Richards was captain when things got a little cliquish. Was that directly his fault? I wouldn't say so, but there was a bit of a divide. There was never open animosity between Pronger and Richards -- there was mutual respect as players and that's per multiple Alumni as well as Pronger's own recounting to Jay Greenberg -- but they had differing views of what a locker room on the same page should consist of. - bmeltzer
Two kinds of captains? The 'example setter' and the 'in your face ass-kicker'? And 2 kind of teams: the vet/motivated team that just needs a north star to guide their course, or the young/undisciplined team that needs someone to get in their face from time to time?
If there isn't a match between style and what team needs, then that could be an issue, and maybe that's what happened here?

STILL on a pace for 162-0.
Extra special for me because I so dislike the Braves and all the front runner fans they have around here. |

I can get on board a push for the Flyers to generate more shots from the middle of the slot (rather than the left point or the sides of the low slot.) Honestly though, how many really think this is an ability issue as opposed to a need for a change in mentality and confidence? I think we have all seen 6 or more Flyers forwards be able to do this many times before this season. Giroux’s game tying goal last night, good example. - NC Flyers Fan
I dunno. It seems like our game is a bit more tilted towards the outside, flashes apart. And I was also talking about how much time it takes on average before someone gets a shg from those areas. The time factor might pick up some of the things I am getting at (more east-west play of some other teams than north-south play of us).
I understand this is quite vague. |

Maybe in a new society the Flyers will catch some breaks with their drafting. |
