His theory was based upon saving 5.5 million after the season where cap is becoming the most value piece. So Foligno is a FA after the season and Zucker has 3 years left at 5.5 million. Foligno would be dropping his cap hit unless he excelled next to Malkin. I believe Foligno would be someone we may be interested in. I do agree that CBJ would need to add in a trade if Zucker was going the other way. Some GMs just over value grit. Personally I would do a 1-1 for Tartar so you can buy a Tartar Penguins Jersey - 123Kid
Unless you think you could sign Tatar or Saad for much less than 5.5m it doesn’t make much sense |

Zucker is a pretty gritty player, I don't think he is a guy you need to trade to get tougher. I agree though he could be a valuable trade chip. I think you are undervaluing him here.
I'd love to get Hoffman but not at the cost of a Zucker 1:1.
Would also be interested in Foligno but Zucker is a way better player. The guy in Columbus I'd be targeting is Laine (yes, I'm a broken record on this). Zucker & Poulin plus would be fine with me. The most obvious thing in the world was that Laine and Torts were not going to be a good match. Sully would get him back to 30-40 goal Laine in a hurry. - MacPatty
If I’m trading with cbus it’s roslovic. Healthy scratch now too. |

Terrible. - Rinosaur
From DK's site...
The Penguins have been utilizing their taxi squad in a way that saves cap space on off days throughout the season, because a player doesn't count toward the team's salary cap when on the taxi squad. On non-game days, a couple of players get assigned to the taxi squad, then they get recalled on the next game day if they're playing. Sometimes, the moves aren't even announced publicly by the team.
This isn't even the first time this has happened with Gaudreau or Angello specifically. Gaudreau has been assigned to the taxi squad three times over the last three weeks on off days, then was in the lineup by next game. Angello has been assigned to the taxi squad 11 times on off days since he came up from Wilkes-Barre a month ago. Since taxi squad players are still able to practice with the team, there's no downside for the team in doing this. |

Torts is a bum. He got his cup with a loaded ass team and a really good goalie. |

I like Roslovic also, for some reason I don't consider him a trade candidate as Columbus should be dying to have a hometown kid with some talent. Good player though.
I think Torts must have a parachute package in his contract because he has been begging Jarmo to fire him. Good coaches find a way to get the best out of their guys without constantly putting them on the bench and embarrassing them in the media. |

Do players on 2-way contracts get paid the NHL or AHL rate when they are on the taxi squad? Meaning are these really just paper moves, or does it actually impact the players pay?

Taxi squad gets payed the AHL rate but it’s the full AHL rate and not the prorated AHL rate of being actually assigned to the AHL. |

I'd hate Tortorella on the Pens bench. I think he's an a$$. |

Angelo didn't practice with the NHL squad today, so that appears not to be a "paper move", but Gaudreau did. Tanev wasn't at practice either...

Teddy was rotating in at wing though. I'm not sure if they are going to use him there for a bit with the Tanev injury, or if it is just him not being game ready yet. |

Truly outrageous. Only silver lining is this might get Sullivan to try him at 3C but it’ll probably be ZAR-Blueger-some scrub |
