Yeah, Seattle could absolutely destroy everybody in UFA. - Tomahawk
They could but players have to want to sign there. I just think hoping on a wing and a prayer that Seattle takes who we want them to take is not an effective strategy.

Sanhiem is already a top 4 as is Myers. Even if they don't reach their top potential, they'll be good players. Hart by many is considered a potential future superstar goalie. I listed him a legit #1. Yes, you need prospects to hit. To reach their potential. That issue is there for every team. - MJL
And the other teams already have really good players they lean on, having prospects come in and contribute should be the last part. Our top guys are all past their prime with the exception of Couturier |

Myers is nothing at this point, his play has not been anywhere near consistent to be considered a top 4 player on a contending team |

That's no different from any other year. Teams are in different cycles. I'll say it again. Even with the firing of Hextall and upper management wanting to escalate the teams progress, we're still in the same place. Waiting on the development of young players.

Both have played no where close to legit top 4 this year. On a contending team or a bubble team, both have regressed and the Flyers need to get these guys right. |

I think teams may learn from their lesson after the Vegas expansion draft and be less willing to offer picks in exchange for taking/not taking players. |

He has been inconsistent for sure but I disagree that he is nothing. They've taken basically a rookie defenseman and asked him to play on a top pairing or in a top 4 role in a situation where the team defense is dysfunctional. Where the support and team fundamental play is severely lacking. Not many young defenseman would flourish in that situation. Another example is all of a sudden, Carter Hart has lost his technique and his game has broken down. Must be a coinkydence! The skills and potential of Myers are obvious. |

They also got someone in Foerster who looks to have a promising future and potential sniper in his own right. |

If the bullpen holds up, they could do some damage this year. Thing that bothers me a little is there's a lot of strikeouts in that lineup |

Some free swingers for sure...but I thought they had a better team then their record last year..If the bullpen holds up I think they can surprise this year.

His skating really started to improve last year. The guys producing at the AHL level...I saw him a few times last year....the seller for me was his coach, the late great Dale Hawerchuck said this kid is special and has a chance to be a very good NHL player. Dale was never one to heap unwarranted praise but he loved this kid. |

Time will tell. His shot and release looks NHL-caliber already. The scouting reports on him all suggested his skating was completely fixable. More along the lines of a Lindblom and not a Matthew Strome. |

I agree that the Flyers best chance is to draft and develop given the landscape in the NHL with the flat cap and ED coming up. When I looked deeper into this article, I realized there must be some players that Button has not seen yet. For example, I think the Flyers have at least 3 potential top players coming up for them, in York, Foerster and O'Brien. York we will see this season, Foerster maybe next season and O'Brien maybe late next season or the season after. I sincerely hope these players can be hits for the Flyers, they really need it.
On the other side, the Flyers need to clear out a few veterans here. I do believe there is a market for Giroux if Fletcher has the stomach for it. I don't see a market for Jake unless the Flyers cover significant salary. We are stuck with Hayes and I think there is a fair chance JVR gets selected in the ED. I would really like a new leadership core in place next year, we need to flush out the current bad vibe that's been hanging over this team for several years now. - jd250 Although I've been a big G fan, if Fletcher can move his salary I'd do it. It seems that when a prominent guy goes, A young guy fills his role. I'm pretty excited about this young group.
