I just saw PT21 walking downtown. He was doing a cost benefit analysis of walking one foot in front of the other versus hopping on both feet.

That poor north Philly food bank is never going to get its check.

I had a nice brisk walk. It was unusually cold today given the past couple of weeks. I did a lot of numbers in my head and got them wrong.

You're correct. Here is how I break it down. I would trade a kings ransom for Matthews as a franchise player and build my team around him. I would not trade a kings ransom for Eichel, who is a very good player but not a franchise player. I would not choose to build my team around Eichel. He is a step below.

Yet you want to build Around couturier; who will be 30 when he signs his new deal.

Do you have any cost effectiveness data? First I have to ask you 5 questions. Don't worry about your answers. I'm just going to ignore them and use my own answers anyway.

Idk how Coots is considered a franchise player and Eichel is not.

If Eichel were wearing a Flyers sweater we’d likely be calling him our best forward since Lindros.

Who considers Couturier a franchise player? Eichel to this point has not shown that he is better than Claude Giroux has been in his career.

... before savagely turning on him when it becomes obvious that he's not any kind of savior, and complain for decades as the pieces we traded him for turn into studs.

More hyperbole on your part. I have not ready anyone who considers Couturier a franchise player.

Would you rather build around:

Eichel who is 25 entering his prime.

Or

Couterier who will be 30 when he signs his new deal ; on the backside of his prime.

He might be going to a clinical psychologist if the defense hangs him out to dry.

I saw that that 8-4 score and Barzal with a hatrick and was squeamish about Saturday's game.

1) Starting to believe you haven't watched much Auston Matthews...

2) Matthews scores at an OV rate right now. Just a flat fact. He scored 47 last season despite missing 12 games. He's missed 15-20 games the previous couple of seasons, otherwise he'd easily have hit 40 goals those years, too. Guy's an animal.

3) As for assists, if you split up primary and secondary you see that Matthews is right there (mostly ahead, actually) of Eichel in primary assists/60 over their careers. Eichel's totals are bolstered by secondary assists.

Matthews is an absolute wizard with the puck. And he's a top-3 goal-scorer to boot. He's always been better than Jack Eichel. Eichel made it semi-interesting last season, but it's not looking so good for him now.

This season no I haven’t watched. But this season is different in many regards for that. The Canadian league. What we started with was Matthews being leaps and bounds better. Imo a change will do Eichel well and his numbers will improve. Matthews yea this year on ov pace ok. Will start comparing them when Matthews has a couple 50 goal seasons until the i do not. I’m not a fan of Eichel. Do as others mentioned do not like his cockiness.

Thanks for sharing about the primary assists though. Did not know that. Buffalo is a dumpster fire.

I’m starting to believe you may be. Little bias towards to Toronto with your avatar

With regards to the Flyers blueline, what other NHL team has a player that bounces from 1st pairing, to third pairing, to healthy scratch, to placed on waivers?

It's an absolute tire fire.

I see the Sabres were quick to start up another losing streak last night. This losing streak will only last 5 games though.

Can someone explain to me what’s going on in baseball that was politically motivated? People keep commenting on it but your usually news outlets obviously not telling the whole story

Moving all star game out of Georgia due to new voting law. Our new president is all about unifying the nation

What’s the old saying? “Nobody is going to feel sorry for us.”

Well nobody except their own coach. I’ve never heard such a weak postgame interview as I heard from V after the game. Pathetic on all fronts

I’d hate for the leadership to fire yet another coach but if V keeps spewing nonsense while the team keeps spewing...

But Bill to be honest I find your criticism of AV to be a bit over the top, and downright offensive. This team STINKS! With all the so-called talent on this team and nice mix of veterans and young players, they show up most games unprepared to compete and make the same stupid mistakes over and over again; and don't talk to me about practice time, these players have played this game since they were about 4 years old. They don't need practice time to go out there and play sound hockey, they should know how to do that already! What is any coach to do with this lot, honestly, tell me!

And this in no way is hyperbole! In my opinion:

1. The leadership is non-existent on this team starting with the quiet man Giroux
2. Jake would rather skate circles around the offensive zone that actually have purpose to his game, and then he tires himself out so he can't back check when he eventually coughs up the puck
3. Giroux and Hayes have apparently forgot how to shoot the puck!
4. Patrick is a total bust! TK has been benched already!
5. Lindblom is still finding his way back from cancer, but honestly what can we really expect from him? Is he really ever going to be a top 6 forward in this league? I say no way!
6. JVR had a nice start, but now is doing what JVR always does, come back to Earth.
7. The defense is a total mess. They consistently over play the puck, are out of position, don't use their body or sticks and turn the puck over at an alarming rate (and I don't care what the stats say in this regard, my eyes tell me all I need to see)
8. the goalies have been under siege this entire season and finally cracked under the magnitudes of pressure of point blank chance after point blank chance.
9. All the young kids/prospects we have apparently are nothing more than 4th line players, glad Hextall stocked the cupboards with these gems!
10. Finally, the only bright spots on the team are Couturier and Farabee, and AV would rather play Farabee on the PK than the PP when the games are in the balance!

There, glad I could get my "10 things wrong with the Flyers" off my chest. The bottom line is AV is not the problem on this team. He has been dealt a bunch of veterans who would rather play pond hockey than actually play a responsible system, and a bunch of young players that are actually not that good!

I feel bad for AV the players are absolutely embarrassing , idk how long it will take to get that 9-0 game taste out of my mouth .
