We haven't the assets to make trades that will move the needle. They are a playoff team. Period. I just want them to win one series, I'm tired of one and done. It's just gravy after that.

The Pens are a good home team. Couple that with a bunch of guys playing as well as they can play and voila you have the run we just had. One thing you can't deny is this group plays hard and never quits. In some ways this a refreshing change.

This is my thinking. Absolutely no one Winnipeg gives up Copp or Lowry for Riikola... Pettersson maybe, but not Riikola.

But considering we still have Ruhwedel, POJ and Friedman all sitting beyond the 6 in the line up currently dressing, I'd say our back end depth is good- if you can get a 4th rounder out of Winnipeg for Riikola go for it... remember he makes 1.2M next year as well and we'll need all the money we can save for Marino, Blueger and ZAR pay bumps upcoming this offseason...

Agree. I don't think they get much for Riikola and he might become a solid defenseman elsewhere. But he's arguably their 10th defenseman and they could use the cap and roster space.

I can't see why the Pens won't be able to advance thru the East. If for no other reason there is no dominant goaltender. The two best 'tenders aren't going to make the playoffs, Blackwell and Shestrekin.

Couple Injuries could hamper an ‘elite’ team. A hot goalie has been known to change a round, or a player possessed. Wouldn’t be the first time pitt has PDO’d there way to a cup.

Pens just destroyed a bunch of poop teams in March while rocking a 104 PDO. In the only division without an elite team imo. Woohoo they are cup contenders now. No need to make a trade.

He's not wrong in what he's saying but they're much better than he's giving credit for. They scratched and clawed their way into a lot of points earlier this season not playing near as good of a team game we've seen them develop the past month or so. They do have heart...and there is definitely a bitta skill but I'm all for trades to upgrade if it's possible.

I think Washington is going to be tough but Boston lost all its mojo losing Chara and Krug.

Tampa is highly dependent on how Kucherov comes back, not sure why but I don't think Carolina would be a harder out than Washington.

I think Montreal is a dark horse who could take a run at it if price is on his game. Toronto could be really tough also.

The Avs on paper look really tough but they haven't done anything yet in the playoffs with this core.

Along with the divisions, the playoff format will also have a different look. The top four teams in each division will qualify for the playoffs, which will feature divisional play. Once we get to the final four there will not be a conference finals. Instead, we will get the Stanley Cup Semifinals and the four teams will be re-seeded depending on their regular season point total. That makes it possible for a Lightning-Golden Knights semifinal or, once we get to the Cup Final, a Bruins-Lightning matchup.
