Quinn is from Cranston RI, not Boston. And I don't think anyone cares where he's from. The organization sent the letter out before hiring Quinn. The reason they hired Quinn was to develop the young talent. A lot of our young players haven't played how we would hope, part of that could be guessing wrong in trades (Howden) part of that could be on Quinn but as mentioned there have been some players (Buch, Kakko) who have made good improvement under him.

The only issue I have is that if we ride our top 6 like sea biscuit to get into the playoffs what then? Get bounced in the 1st round because you can't rely on 6 forwards to win playoff series, and all of that was done at the potential development of the youth just so Quinn could save his own job?

We want the young players to be playing more and getting opportunity in these close meaningful games while the season is on the line. Next year the expectation is to be a playoff team, not necessarily this season. 3-5 years from now the goal is to be competing for Stanley cups and without the younger players getting opportunity to play in difficult situations how are they supposed to grow?

Reeeeeaaaaaally?

And who isn't playing like "we" the fans had hoped? Laf--a rookie, Kakko-playing great, Miller--gonna be awesome, Fox-nuff said, Shesty-stud, Hajek-nice 3rd pairing dman, Buch-became an excellent two way player and PKer under Quinn. Not to mention that Panarin, Zib, and Strome have had career years under Quinn.

So I guess you mean Howden

the belief that David Quinn is on the hot seat, its such a fallacy

People are trying to speak it into reality the same way I try to speak Barkov, Zib as our 1-2 into existence.

Then why do many on this board feel like he's putting player development to the back burner to win some games in a season where the expectation wasn't to make the playoffs?

Would it be reasonable to think that the team playing well under a different voice possibly scared him into thinking his position could be in jeopardy or is that just being a troll and unrealistic?

Call me Ishmael. Some years ago—never mind how long precisely—having little or no money in my purse, and nothing particular to interest me on shore, I thought I would sail about a little and see the watery part of the world. It is a way I have of driving off the spleen and regulating the circulation. Whenever I find myself growing grim about the mouth; whenever it is a damp, drizzly November in my soul; whenever I find myself involuntarily pausing before coffin warehouses, and bringing up the rear of every funeral I meet; and especially whenever my hypos get such an upper hand of me, that it requires a strong moral principle to prevent me from deliberately stepping into the street, and methodically knocking people’s hats off—then, I account it high time to get to sea as soon as I can. This is my substitute for pistol and ball. With a philosophical flourish Cato throws himself upon his sword; I quietly take to the ship. There is nothing surprising in this. If they but knew it, almost all men in their degree, some time or other, cherish very nearly the same feelings towards the ocean with me.

Tommy, well said. Every day on twitter, my conversation is on Quinn and how he needs to be gone. Clearly, he is polarizing. If they win, its in spite of him, and if they lose, because of him

We should just go no coach so we can stop blaming them and just blame the players

So the underlying problem in Panarin. Just trade him and Laf will play more. Simple
- rrentz

I know one poster that would be down for this. Coincidence that they're also one of the people butthurt about Laf's ice time? Me thinks not!

Not up to date on the blog comments so sorry if this has come up before. At the risk of getting destroyed here I want to mention that I think Torts would be an excellent coach for this group. I was a fan of his last time around and realize that I am in the minority there. I just feel like the team always played an honest game when he was behind the bench and I liked the overall tenacity of this teams. I think the lockout ruined what could have been a great season following the unexpected run to the conference finals. His interview comments were worth the price of admission to me as well.

Totally get it if you don't agree but I think this team needs a little more spice and better meritocracy that Torts brings. He is unsigned after this season and I know JD and Drury love him. Big downside to me is Gorton as Tort's hiring would imply that the decision came from somewhere other than his desk.

OK, thanks for reading, now fight me!

Its funny we keep hearing the vague "stunting development", yet when anyone asks who, we only get Laf... So no other young players count... its (frank)ing mind bottling
