I'm very happy with the trajectory of the NYR, but they NEED a 2way Center. Both Zibby and Strome have the flash and dash, but this team is missing that 3rd line shut down center. No matter whether Strome is here after next season, if NYR has plans on winning the cup it will need that 3rd line center.

But, it really looks like that could be Barron.
I just feel like we have everything we need, in house.
Our only need for trading is to move players that unfortunately won't crack the line up despite their NHL level talent for future picks and prospects "high-end" enough to keep the Wolfpack stacked and our pipeline intact. IMO, obviously.

all these trade proposals everybody keeps throwing around with the Kings?

Guaranteed that K'Andre who who they would want

If Miller is involved thats OK, because Byfield is coming back!

Realistically, it will be Kupari and somebody like Jones or Lundkvist.

Understand trading Hayes thinking we had Lias and Chytil. Damn did that not turn out too well.

I don't know, have you watched Hayes? Glad we didn't give him that money

I still wouldn't wanna be paying Kevin Hayes 7 million a year

I honestly don't hate Kravstov playing with Rooney over Chytill at this point, but just hope he sees more than 7 mins of ice.

so Kyle Palmieri with his 8 goals and 4.625 mil cap hit, is considered the top trade chip on market

Colin Blackwell has 9 goals, 725K cap hit this year and next

Maybe so, but we have this offseason to bring in another center, and see if NYR needs/wants to resign Strome. If Barron works out next year, like we hope, then down the middle is all set.

Zib
Strome
? (2 way center acquired by trading 1st round and prospect(s)

I don't get changing the lines around for the benefit of "showcasing" Blackwell.
Are you telling me that there is a GM in the league that might be interested in him but doesn't recognize what he is? Blackwell is a bottom 6 forward with essentially NHL average ability in almost every area, that is showing a little offensive upside. Putting him on a line with Panarin doesn't somehow make him anything more than that.
It feels like we are sabotaging our own lines to somehow pull the wool over the eyes of an unsuspecting GM.

Quinn also has said in the past he likes to see things in practice to see how it looks. It wouldn't surprise me if the lines get jumbled again on Tuesday.

At this point I may take Hayes $7m over Troubas $8m with all the D prospects we have in the pipe.

Yeah, was also thinking that there might be a reason that these lines are running on an off-day.

I agree though, want no part of Blackwell playing over Kravstov and Kakko. But maybe Jimbo is right, trying to get more value out of him

So ---

Boston has a REAL problem scoring goals and they are looking for wingers as the trading deadline approaches.

Question: Since the Rangers have a bit of history as trading partners, how do we feel about sending Buch to Boston in a deal? Or do we not want to help the enemy??

I hope you’re right. Blackwell will probably play more minutes than Panarin tomorrow if that’s the case after both played 18 on Saturday. Quinn’s overthinking it.

as long as the Rangers think they can still catch Boston, no chance

things can change though if the 4 games coming up vs Pittsburgh and Islanders are bad

I see Buch as a summer trade. Don't limit yourself to how many teams can afford him right now. Boston isn't going to trade anything of great value at the deadline as they gear up for a run. If Buch isn't resigned I hope he is used as more of a hockey trade to bring in talent to maybe a team that needs wingers and has excess centers.

I don't know why we'd even think of showcasing him, we're going to need him when Quinn leads us to the playoffs.

You mean all the D prospects we didn't have at the time of those moves?
We were playing Staal, Skjei, Smith,...
And our prospect pool topped out with Miller, Reunanen and Jones.
Quite good, but a lot has changed since then.

lol. I see what you're doing there!!
I just think that the beauty of what Blackwell has been doing for us is that it comes from the bottom 6. When you move him up, how does that help the depth of scoring that was benefitting us?

You know it's a rough day for #NYR Twitter when all I've done is post the lines (which I don't pick) and listed some stats (with no opinion) and I'm *still* being called all kinds of names.

I'm cool with being your punching bag. I just feel bad for how angry some people are.

So Halak just tested positive for Covid. Bruins missing their top 2 goalies for a bit.

Maybe the playoffs aren't out of reach yet???
