I see the center situation being "solved" one of 2 ways. First things first, this Chytil experiment at center isnt working out. Id love to give him a go at wing again but thats obviously not gonna work out.

They either make the blockbuster trade that the media has been egging on the last year. Then a follow up move for a veteran 3C. I hope its for Barkov, I pray to god its not for Eichel.

The other way they can resolve our issues at center is to pick up a guy like Getzlaf for 2 years in free agency in the offseason. Then make a trade with LA for Kupari, he will be our future center in the making to learn from Getz and Zib, playing between LAF and Kravtsov. Morgan Barron is called up to play the 4th line, getting his feet wet at an NHL level.

Well thats heart breaking.

Fairly certain he started at wing and has been playing center the last few weeks. He’s listed on the scoresheet from their last game as a Center too. Unfortunately the AHL doesn’t list face off stats.

Would like to see Justin Richards F/O stats too. Remember being pretty optimistic when we signed him out of college. Almost sounded like he was signed to be a future 4C. Never got a look in training camp because of an injury.

At this point, it wouldnt hurt to give a look to anyone who can be a depth center. I dont even care if theyre big scorers, as long as they can win faceoffs, are strong on their feet and play a 200ft game.

Need a two way center for sure. This team really loves to pass. They look for the perfect play. I get it but sometimes just take some shots on net when the passing isn’t working early

These constant cross ice passes are infuriating. This crap might work in college, but at a professional level, pucks need to be on net.

The one other thing Ive noticed is theyre not great at creating space for themselves. They always seem to have a defender in front of them which further complicates the shot quality making them want to keep passing.

Rooney Barron Gauthier

Give me that next year I’ll be happy. Buch all depends on what he’s going to want on his contract. He’s earned it, but the term and money are going to decide if he’s here or not next year.

Instead of Kupari, lets look at Josh Norris of Ottawa. Might as well aim high!

With the kind of package we can put together, we should be aiming high.

Blackwell had the same ice time as Panarin tonight. I like the guy, but get the (frank) out of here with that.

Sick of always discussing ice time, but how do both play 18 minutes?

- TC88

I don't think this is as complicated as it's being made out to be...
Blackwell is 6th on the team in goals.
You want the others to take his ice time? Tell them to start scoring more.

But he should not be playing on the PP2. Granted I dont have a name that should replace him.

However, if Strome is all that... he should be centering the PP2 and let one of the RWs play their position on PP1.

Because clamoring for players that arent available or cost a substantial amount of prospects after we finally have somewhat of a farm system is like living on Fantasy Island. Trading away picks and prospects hasnt worked out for us in the past. There is no quick fix. Players need time to gel and develop chemistry. Its typical of a fanbase, lets trade for the other teams superstar cause they dont really want him!!

Well since we are living on Fantasy Island, How about this trade proposal

Panarin for either Eichel or Barkov

Setting aside the fact that Panarin would have to approve of the trade, would you consider this a fair trade proposal??

I include Panarin not because I dislike him that so many of you believe but that he is elite as both Eichel and Barkov

two years ago, Panarin had the opportunity to sign whereever he wanted and chose a 7 year NMC deal with the Rangers

are you really asking me if he'd waive his NMC for a trade to Buffalo?

Unfortunately, the roster of a hockey team is 12F 6D and a goalie. We dont have the space on our roster to develop every stud we encounter.

If you agree that our top 4 is locked in as Miller/Trouba, Lindgren/Fox, we only have 2 spots left on defense to share between Lundkvist, Robertson, Schneider, Jones, Reunanen, Hajek. Ideally this is where the bulk of value will come from as far as a trade goes. We have such an abundance at defense that we could essentially trade a potential top 4 pairing tandem.

As far as Barkov goes, Ive ALWAYS prefaced this as calling it a pipedream. Hes one of my favorite players in the league so Id love to see him in Rangers blue. My thoughts behind this are Florida wont have the money to resign him because of the current economic climate and there might be, although minuscule, a chance to pursue him.

The Getzlaf suggestion is very plausable. Hes without a doubt still a better all around player than Strome although much older and will be a free agent after this year. He would come cheaper than someone like Barkov, so it leaves a lot of money on the table to resign a lot of our budding stars. And if we take some of our excess and trade it for a legitimate center prospect, like Kupari from LA, I think it sets us up for the future quite well.

The names are relative and not specific, theyre only used to protray an idea / concept.

Seeing that they may have extra cap space the next couple years, it could be a good idea to trade for a bad contract while we a good one and a good player at the same time

Calgary is going to have to do something, year after year they disappoint. So here’s my idea:

Lindholm and Lucic for Chytil. Maybe we have to throw something else in like a pick, or Gauthier/Blackwell etc

It doesn’t kill us really at all with trading away a lot and we get a bonafide top 6 center. Chytil just hasn’t made enough strides.

As far as Lucic goes, you could play him (4th line/ protection for the kids) or let him finish his contract in Hartford or maybe a buy out. Point is, it shouldn’t hurt us as we are very unlikely to deep in UFA they next few seasons anyway, so the money should be there. Resign Buch Zib and Strome

A top 9 of

Kreider Zib Buch
Panarin Strome Kakko
Laf Lindholm Krav

Is as fearsome as any in hockey. At this point we have so much youth, they need a solid veteran in his mid 20s.

Just an idea, no reason to wanna hurt me lol

Absolutely not. Aside from my thoughts that Panarin is a better player, I want nothing to do with Eichel and whatever spine injury he may have.

TJ, come on man. You seriously think that we might have to add to Chytil for Lindholm? Come on man. Even Im not smoking that crack. Using Lucic bad contract as leverage to get Lindholm, even CGY isnt that dumb.
