Ontario 'shutdown' will bring few changes to COVID-19 hot spots, if it brings any.

Update:

They called me back. I was at the park playing fetch with my dog.

The customer service rep (the eighth one I have spoken with today) informed me that she can't help - I need to deal with corporate accounts.

"Okay, can you please transfer me to them?"

"I'm sorry, they have no telephone number. They only way you can contact them is through email."

"Okay, can you please email or text me that email? I'm at the park with my dog right now."

"I'm sorry sir, I can't email or text you."

"So Rogers Communications, a multi-billion dollar telecommunications company, can't email or text me? And I can't get a hold of corporate plan customer service via a telephone?"

"That's correct, sir."

Un-be-franking-leavable.

call in... ask to start a new "premium" service... you want the best most expensive thing they have.

start there... let them answer the questions - insist that you live in a old house and new cable/cabling must be installed from the street. chase it that way.

tell them you want the new "Business" class service.

then once the thing is installed.. down grade to the cheaper one and tell them why.

Sooo... if you want to take petty to another level, what you can also do is record the conversations with an app (I use Cube ACR), and then quickly bleep out personal info and upload them to Youtube and post them all over twitter
- TheMussel

Thanks for the tip on the app to use. I always wanted one.

I also have another tip, when calling an insurance company for like auto insurance I know a guy who would keep notes on what was said by what agent and on what day/time so when they tried to change things later on he would tell them to pull the tape from that person/date and they would always have to concede that that was what was said.

Now that is a run-on sentence.

They better hope for more poopty weather or it'll be an issue. Warmer weather and people are going to be antsy to break rules.

It’s eliminating the player that goes with that $5M who needs to be replaced unless you want to go with Campbell and Hutch. Why do you think they went through all that effort to generate those cap savings if you’re just going to toss them? Putting Freddie on LTIR is not a good thing
- Canada Cup

The can keep it the way it is and when they use the accumulated cap space they can then put him on LTIR and use that extra generated space.
Then he can come back for the playoffs.

Interestingly, insurance is the one where I've had the best customer service recently.

That and the Salvation Army who for some odd reason had my info so i asked them to delete it.

I asked Doordash to delete my account and they said they couldn't because of company policy, and the while I was on the phone with the agent I found the website where I could put in my account deletion request

I'm a very petty person when it comes to strangers and companies. Like... extremely petty. If you ever need tips on being petty, I'm your man.

In this situation, I would be extremely nice, and ever so understanding with every agent, but firm enough to get the whole thing rectified. I'd let them know that I just want to get the account sorted out, jump through the hoops, talk to a manager, stay on the line all day long. You get the best customer service this way. Anyways, grab some beers, set aside the time to do this, make sure they have a file that they can follow along with. Ask for things, like concessions because of the very poor service they've given you, and when they give it to you, make sure to let them know you really appreciate the effort they're putting in to satisfy you.

Then when you have your money back, cancel anyways. But cancel really politely, listen to all their pitches and tell them it's very interesting. Then cancel anyway.

Honestly nothing feels better than making the company spend like 2000 dollars in salary paid trying to retain you from the customer retention department and then jumping ship anyway. It (frank)s with their metrics.

It does not seem like outdoor gatherings, in reasonable numbers and reasonable space is causing the problem.

Seems like it is indoor settings, younger people, and workers who have jobs that require them to be at work (eg. factories)

Like what are the extra changes that they are doing in the hotspots, nothing, they're just making the rest of us the same.

Drieger could be had and he’s cheap and I’m just as confident with him in net over Andersen.

Andersen simply has been crap the last few years and just about every important playoff game. I really don’t know why anybody thinks he can produce anymore than he has.

I’d love his 5 M cap to be off the books and put into someone better. Plenty of players are better and cheaper.

- Santo_44

Fine, trade him. Just don’t put him on LTIR. It’s not complicated

Was at Costco today, trying to get in a trip before the shutdown... everyone else had the same idea at the exact same time I think.

Anyhooo...

The people behind me in line did not want to put on their mask. Some woman quoting some article of legislation about wearing masks in public outside and her red-neckish partner talking about how everyone is sheep and they have rights as Canadians.

Then they continued on into the store saying they didn't really have to wear mask even IN the store and they had rights.

Did someone open the Canada US border recently?

This wouldn't be the worst case scenario, as it would allow us to cheat on the cap.
- Atomic Wedgie

Andersen will practice the whole time, just like Kucherov and people will think it's totally normal and not a way to cheat the system

Don't you love how some people's idea of protesting is going into a retail store and causing trouble for already stretched-thin underpaid, overworked employees? Pure class.

It's not a national issue. It's a universal IQ and dunning-kruger issue.

Ha! I was going to make a run today.

Mrs. Wedgie made an online order instead.

Now I'm grumpy, because I love wandering through the 4 fun aisles, and of course I get a hot dog at the end of it all.

I honestly don't get what the franking problem is - for $3, you can get a comfortable, washable one.

Hell, I just wear one now while walking around outside - I don't notice it's on.

People are going all out today.. Was at Home Depot and it was rammed.. It's not to far from a Home Sense store and there was a long line outside the Home Sense. With Ford putting more fear in people, I'm sure we will continue to see an increase in cases for at least 2 more weeks
