Sure you can put him on LTIR put that will eat up the cap savings that Pridham has been storing away which will make trading more difficult.
- Canada Cup

It will eliminate 5M in pro rated cap...which is more than Pirdham has generated to this point.

True Wedgie Story:

My Rogers TV service is crap - pixilation during sports games.

I have a friendly agent come out in February - does some stuff, tells me to see how it goes.

It doesn't help.

They send another agent - he tweaks some stuff, tells me to see how it goes.

It doesn't help.

Rogers tells me it must be my wiring in the house, which isn't their problem. I lose my poop - it's five years old from recent house renovation.

A friend tells me you have to ask for a "level 2 technician" (or some poop like that).

They send the guy on Hallowe'en. He's great - runs tests, tells me the line running into the house needs to be replaced, but sadly, he can't do that. He will file a report, but urges me to follow up.

Aaaaaaaand we wait. I start getting angrier, because they haven't even bothered to phone me to set up an appointment. I start sending polite but angry emails.

I literally get a phone call during the first period of a Leafs game - I'm at the game. It's about 7:30 pm. I can barely hear the dude. He's from the President's Office, although he's in BC, so I'm guessing he doesn't really see the President all that much.

Anyhoo, I explain the situation. We exchange pleasantries, and more importantly, we exchange contact information. He assures me he will fix it.

Over the next two months, I send him a couple of emails, leave a couple of voicemails, wondering why the frank no one has contacted me to replace the line into my house.

I finally get ahold of him in mid-February. He's all apologetic, says he will look into it.

I tell him that before he does anything, I need one simple question answered:

- the problem was identified on Hallowe'en. It was escalated to the President's Office in mid-December. By mid-February, nobody at Rogers have taken any steps to rectify the problem.

He hums and haws, assures me he will make everything right. I tell him unless he can answer my question, I'm cancelling my service immediately, and I'm also contacting his boss to let him know how dissatisfied I am.

And I demand a full refund for every single franking cent I have paid for TV for the past year.

He agrees to the refund, and I cancel TV and internet. Sadly, I can't cancel our personal phones, as we are on contracts.

Anyhoo, fast forward a couple of months, and my wife goes into our local Rogers store to upgrade my daughter's phone.

Customer service rep says she can't add any new equipment - the system has frozen out our account due to lack of payment.

My wife loses her sh!t.

Turns out their software can't tell the difference between a huge credit and a huge debt. It takes them a couple of days to sort it out.

Sorry for the long story, but I'm still on franking hold to Rogers, trying to get a simple mistake of theirs fixed. It will probably take me two franking hours today.

That sucks! But it's a pretty familiar story. One more reason why we need to block the sale of Shaw to Rogers. Everything will get worse when they have even less competition. Canada totally allows an illegal oligopoly of these services and they don't give a damn about their customers because they don't need to. I've been with Freedom/Wind since their conception. I'd rather crappy service than the nonsense I've had to deal with using Rogers or Bell. I've cancelled my tv service because I can't stomach dealing with them. We have Cogeco here, so I use it for internet. It's not as good as Bell but at least I get the same bill every month. People have to push, sign petitions, and force our regulators to allow competition into the market instead of allowing the big guys to make competition illegal.

It’s eliminating the player that goes with that $5M who needs to be replaced unless you want to go with Campbell and Hutch. Why do you think they went through all that effort to generate those cap savings if you’re just going to toss them? Putting Freddie on LTIR is not a good thing

Drieger could be had and he’s cheap and I’m just as confident with him in net over Andersen.

Andersen simply has been crap the last few years and just about every important playoff game. I really don’t know why anybody thinks he can produce anymore than he has.

I’d love his 5 M cap to be off the books and put into someone better. Plenty of players are better and cheaper.

Worst part to the whole story is that Bell, Shaw, Telus, Bob's Cable, whoever are all equally bad. Not nearly enough choice in this country to make these companies pay any real attention to customer service.

The other sad reality, the people who will eventually cancel do not cost them as much as it would to properly staff customer service.

Update:

They called me back. I was at the park playing fetch with my dog.

The customer service rep (the eighth one I have spoken with today) informed me that she can't help - I need to deal with corporate accounts.

"Okay, can you please transfer me to them?"

"I'm sorry, they have no telephone number. They only way you can contact them is through email."

"Okay, can you please email or text me that email? I'm at the park with my dog right now."

"I'm sorry sir, I can't email or text you."

"So Rogers Communications, a multi-billion dollar telecommunications company, can't email or text me? And I can't get a hold of corporate plan customer service via a telephone?"

"That's correct, sir."

Un-be-franking-leavable.

Sooo... if you want to take petty to another level, what you can also do is record the conversations with an app (I use Cube ACR), and then quickly bleep out personal info and upload them to Youtube and post them all over twitter

I'll tell you what really pisses me off:

I had 100 friends who worked for Rogers right out of university. They all said the same thing: if you ever phone them for whatever reason, demand a credit. The customer service reps are authorized to instantly give you $X without needing approval.

So if this phone was for personal use, I would have ripped enough new arseholes at Rogers to get a $200 credit and a year of free porn.

But it's a corporate phone, and I currently hate my work, so why would I ask for any kind of compensation?

I was on the phone will Bell once and I called the automated system a c u next tuesday. Support agent didn't appreciate it since they listen to all of that stuff anyways. Well if they listen to all of it, can't you just hop on quick and direct my call appropriately?

Man you could get all kinds of intel about headquarters.... like how to get in and stuff. I'd love to one day dress up well, sneak into headquarters, sit in on a meeting in a conference room, and when people ask me who I am I'd explain my customer service grievance to them.

Mental health and the economy of everyone over 17 matters a lot too. Everyone's situations differ but its important to look at everyones just the same.

Hall + ullmark
its happening

Elliotte Friedman on WGR550: Toronto has called Buffalo asking what their plans are with Ullmark in case they need to add a goalie. Talks not serious yet, due diligence in case news on Andersen is bad.

But isn't there something about it messing up the accrued cap we have so that we could replace Andersen but we couldn't do anything else?

I don't know if there is a replacement better than him if he can get healthy and get his head back together.
