Can division?
Stronger D, Brodie in, Ceci/Barrie out?
better coaching/gameplan?
players just maturing and starting to get it?
magic? - senstroll
The Leafs are definitely much better defensively and it's not just the defensemen. They smother their opponents now taking away time and space. Forcing them to get rid of the puck sooner then they want to which results in more turnovers.
At times they'll back off for some reason and become complacent which results in defensive breakdowns. The Leafs players need to be confident enough to stick with their game plan. It's almost as if they don't really believe they're good at being defensively responsible. But they are. Don't let your opponent off the hook. Keep shoving it down their throats.

As Leafs enter last full month of season, it’s clear they’re good enough to get close this year based largely on divisional structure as well as improved play. With TDL approaching, the only question is whether Dubas tinkers or takes bold action. For further insights, I am joined on the podcast by Mr. Formaldehyde himself, Howie Berger

Nate mack should be suspended for throwing a helmet at another players face.
Although the slowmo video is kinda funny.
Also, its the nhl, his team is on a role, hes a star, so nothing will happen

It does help when your goalie outplays the opposing team's goaltender. Last night may have been the first such case since the three game sweep of the oilers.

Howie Booger always made me laugh. It's like he loved the Leafs but he loved hating them even more.

Doubt there is much serious action at the TDL. A dman if the price is right and a backup goalie. What is interesting to me is that most on here think there is a real opportunity or "easy route" to the semi finals in this division. Nothing could be further from the truth. Montreal in the first round is scary for several reasons. Short series with an excellent Goalie, a tough defense first team, something the Leafs experienced with CBJ last year. I would rather face the Jets or Oilers in the first round to be honest.

Actually none of us said that from what i recall, i definitely didnt. But good try i guess.
I merely pointed out people were going overboard with whining about every goal that was scored. - Fakepartofme
Your take is fair enough, mine is that I was saying Freddy was letting in softees in every game he played and was being outplayed by opposing goalies. My impression is that you and others were saying something like it's bad defense not the goalie's fault.

Wedgie from Toronto. Long-time listener, first time caller. Love your show.
My question is for Mr. Berger:
I attended a funeral at your funeral home last week, and there was a lot of dog poop in the parking lot. Can you please be more vigilant when you do your job?

Do you remember when Jack Morris was with the Blue Jays?
His ERA the first year was 4.04, yet he was 21-6.
Jimmy Key had an ERA of 3.53, yet was 13-13.
For whatever reason, this team plays better with Campbell between the pipes.
I say we just go with it. - Atomic Wedgie
Agree - it's pretty hard to argue with 7-0 as well. I thought Campbell played really well, calm and steady. Galchenyuk looks pretty good so far, huge improvement over Vesey.
