So you are saying that Hayes is performing up to his contract? That is mind boogling if you are saying that
- corduroy

No that's not what I was saying
I was just saying that Hayes is at least responsible defence wise
Right now the Flyers have bigger problem then Hayes contract
I m not able to understand any GM who signs 7 year contracts
Most players should be on 5 and not more

Wonder if AV is coaching to get fired.....

I’m ok with a v for now but so question things. I am not thrilled with therein. Never have been.

Would love Trotz. Wouldn’t mind Daryl but he just started in Calgary.

Charlie O'Conner cites Evolving Hockey as determining Goal Saved Above Expectations were -34.2 for the month. That's atrocious. Perhaps the goaltending is a small part of the problem and not all due to Myers and Ghost...
- biggbear77

Goaltending has been a massive part of the problem. They're not even making saves on stoppable shots. At this point, I'd be happy if they did that!

This is his shot at a big deal to cash in imo. Unless he bets on himself and takes a 1 year deal.

You could be right, maybe that is how he is viewing this FA opportunity. But I just don't think he has the stats to "cash-in". His stats, coupled with the cap landscape of the league, will put him around $2.5M-$3M AAV IMO. And at that price I hope the Flyers bring him back. I'm all for changes being made, but I think a player like Laughton would be very valuable to this team over the next 3-4 years.

Every franchise goes through down stretches. They have a down year maybe because of major injuries or they are missing pieces or the coach isn't right for the players on the roster. That happens for everyone, but the Flyers recently are not having these normal things that happen to everyone. They are dealing with the same symptoms year after year after changes.

Top of my head the Chicago Blackhawks...what was the catalyst that turned that franchise around? The easy answer is drafting Kane or Towes or any player you want to pick, but it was the death of Bill Wirtz.

Pittsburgh Penguins....what was their catalyst? Obviously tanking and drafting Lemieux was pretty huge. Then drafting Crosby had a very similar effect.

Every team is different, but there has to be something that is causing it for the Flyers. Some have already argued the leadership of the core, but is that really it? Many new players have been added to the team over the years and end up showing signs that were there before they even came to the team. I just want to know WTF it is.

Without starting the chicken or the egg discussion again, my observation says roughly half of the goals against are on the team defense and half on the goaltending with maybe one goal every other game just bad luck. Both team defense and goaltending were historically horrid this past month.

i definitely agree that the goaltending has been bad, but i put most of the blame on the team playing in front of them.

He’s on the payroll. Not gonna happen.

Kind of genius that Comcast has most of the hockey writers in Philly on the books. Even Mikey Miss has a Comcast tv deal now and is suddenly very soft on them after years of shredding them.

Bill has never been anything but ethical and forthcoming. Perhaps you and others want to him to rant and rave with hyperbole. That's what is not going to happen.

One thing i would do though is get Alison and Laczynski in the lineup. I know thy wanted them to get more games in LH but both bring skills this team could use. Raffl, Twaynski, Bunnamann have been good soldiers but they are what they are.

Give me something like this Saturday.

Jvr - Couturier - Farabee
Giroux - Hayes - Konecny
Alison - Patrick - Voracek
Lindbom - Lauhgton - Laczynski

Alison and Laczynski both have been playing well in LH and look like guys that can bring and energy and both have offensive skills. Alison has an NHL shot and shoot first mentality. Also both have solid size and skate well.

Get Farabee back with Couturier. He looked confident there.
And if your not using York in the lineup, Gostisbehere should be on that 3rd pair with Morin. I don't need to see Gustufson or Prosser

He is "pacing" for a career year. Some GM's always overpay, even in hard times. Will def be interesting to see what he settles for.

Then go get someone like him and let him move on. Need fresh players.

I UNDERSTAND THAT JUST FINE!!! That's not the question/topic. We're discussing whether or not the Flyers should even bother trying to bring Laughton back, or just let him walk. That begs the question, if they're going to attempt to re-sign him, then what is his cost realistically going to look like?
I fully expect him to explore FA. He would be dumb not to.

Conveniently it’s not going to happen with anyone paid by Comcast either. It’s not limited to Bill.

There’s a reason JJ and Jonesy got caught saying what they said on a hot mic and not on air.
