Trade Laughton at the TDL for a 1st. Based on TB's trades last year for Goodrow and Coleman that is a reasonable return. The other UFA's aren't getting much, but move them anyway.

Not resigning or trading and getting assets for Couturier? If he leaves for nothing that would be catastrophically bad to the future of the Flyers. If they think there is a chance he does not sign they have to trade him.

So if he leaves for nothing the Flyers would be bad. Maybe top 5 pick bad for most of those 4 years. Please keep in mind that they just updated the lottery rules. So the odds are against getting multiple number 1-3 picks. Of course Carter Hart could recover from his malaise and carry an under talented team to a middling record. The Flyers should move him too then right?

If Couturier wants to sign an extension next season I would do it. If he does not sign an extension they have to trade him. It’s pretty simple.

Coots, Provy and Hart are the long term future of this team. They go as those players go.

Re-signing Couturier is a no brainer. Based on his 5 questions, there isn't anything that he can offer to show that doing so is irrational. Unfortunately, you didn't give him the answers he wanted. Which is why he moved the goal posts on every reply. We'll get his sermon now.

He's not there to instigate or fight. He's there to play hockey.

Did I see a 43 year old HoF defenseman drop the gloves at the end of less bad loss than some of Flyers recent debacles? I guess he is in the NHL to fight and not play hockey?
I guess I expect from some Flyers, think Sam Morin, what I saw in Zedno Chara this evening. He is in the NHL to play hockey as well.

Agreed. I am mildly pumped to see how far the goalposts moved. On the other hand the sermon will be disappointing. As is tradition.

I'll tell you where I want the Flyers to fight. I want them to fight for loose pucks. I want them to fight for position defensively. I want them to fight to clear the crease. I want them to fight to skate hard on the back check. I want them to fight to get to the scoring areas around the net. I want them to fight to get the puck to the net. I couldn't care less if they actually drop the gloves and fight in a league where fighting is almost non-existent.

Amen. I love a good “punch in the face contest” but I would prefer my team does all of the things you mentioned. We would not be discussing the Flyers right now if they did.

Exactly. Because they aren't doing all of those things and are unfortunately a bad hockey team right now. I don't give a flip about dropping the gloves. I want Sam Morin to be a hockey player. Hopefully fill a role as a top 6 defenseman. Develop to where he can use his size to play well defensively and on the PK. I don't care if he fights.

No one hear would ever disagree with fighting for all of those things. It's just funny that a grandpa Hall of Famer thought it made sense to fight another with fists after his team lost the scoring battle. And he plays for the best team in the division. As someone who never really got that aspect of game end statement checking/fighting in a loss, just felt it interesting that a world class defenseman did, while not a single Flyer did during an atrocious month of doing the bad hockey.

I am all for “getting it all out” during a bad loss. The point is if you do all the stuff MJL mentioned you generally will not be losing badly. That’s the overall point. Play the game right regularly and you will not need to drop the gloves to show you care.

It's true, but not the point.
The point is that Zedno Chara thought it worthy, yet not a single Flyer did during a month of terrible hockey.
Just observing.

Hate to say it but Pens fight for position and play with good structure. They are not winning because of Crosby it’s the OTHER players and solid goal tending

I agree with you as well. The Flyers have been atrocious this month. I wanted to see more reaction if they are not going to fix the overall problems. Sure punching someone in the face should have happened. I don’t think I would be less disappointed in this team though.

This upcoming stretch is going to be very ugly. Play Islanders twice, Boston 3 times and Buffalo. To be honest, I won't be shocked if they go 0-6. I'd say they'd beat Buffalo at the tail end, but even they outplayed this team 5 out of the last 6 periods.

Maybe they'll get lucky and catch a team playing down to their level and sneak a win. That's about the only way I see them winning right now.

Trading for Eichel right now would be such a Bob Clarke move. Lets use up all our trade assets on another C when the real need is on defense and in net.

I'm ready to wipe the slate clean and start over. I really don't care who we get rid of.

This entire team is loaded with over-hyped talent. On offense and defense.
