Let’s go $8.5mil. I would be paying Coots for his overall value to the team. Leadership is certainly a part of that. However, I am paying him to be a bonafide #1 center for my team. He is that now and will be for another 5 years at least.

For the record I would pay other bonafide #1 centers the same even if they were not great leaders.

Ok I am back.

Fine, but in that case you are setting the mentorship value = 0. Are you sure? Some other people have suggested that they should keep him for several things, one of which is this mentorship aspect.

This was a tough one and their may be a few surprises here, but here is my list:

Vegas
Tampa
Capitals
Colorado
St. Louis
Rangers
Flyers

Fine. I will go with your 12% answer before, that one makes this moot.

could be but waiving a player is ultimately the GM's call. He did it to clear cap space (don't ask me how that works) and then when they needed to add Lyon and carry 3 goalies that had a cap issue and roster limit issue for last night's game. So, Ghost to the taxi squad. i am not really on board with it unless they can have a plan to add a quality player at t the deadline and needed cap space to do it.
- Briere

It really wasn't about cap space. It was just about having a roster spot. They have one player on the roster who is waiver exempt and that's Farabee. Due to having to sit Lindblom and Patrick plus carry 3 goalies, the decided to waive Gostisbehere. He cleared but I still think it was a bad choice. They could've gone with 7D and played short one forward.

Once again.

If you have any stones as a GM, and Eichel is available?

Get him now and worry about everything else later.

Our sh***y teams' firsts should be coveted by an enterprising rival GM.

Get Eichel and stop the Rangers from getting him.

Imagine Coutourier as our 2nd line center and the domino effect it has in the rest of the team.

Why is he setting the mentorship value at 0? He clearly stated that leadership is part of it. You state that you always think your posts out. Did you give any thought to what he means by overall value? You're trying to lead him somewhere. When do we get to the part that shows that it is irrational to sign Couturier next year?

Ok great.

Seeing as how I have witnessed numerous instances of players playing their way out of untenable situations....ACROSS ALL SPORTS....

And you come prepared with nothing but your opinion? I will take this for what it is.

A troll-job.

So what you've offered here are actual facts? LOL. I can provide the actual fact that shows that is absolutely is Buffalo's choice. I'll give you a few minutes to think about it.

Great.

Just so we're clear, you are saying the Sabres will sit Eichel, for the duration of his contract, if he refuses to play for them?

Instead of getting some assets to replace him?

Eichel is not going to sit out for the duration of his contract. Even if he does. You DO understand that it is still up to the Sabres. Just so were clear.

I am sure. I am willing to pay for #1 centers. Not all #1 centers are great leaders. Coots offers leadership as part of his total package. It’s a nice perk. In general I feel like top players are looked at to lead. Whether they should be or not.

Yes, absolutely. Not only that but the main guy suggesting that claims that those that aren't on board with that, are not intelligent people.
- MJL

Well I just not be intelligent then because I am whole heartedly against coots being anything except a philadelphia flyer

He is a core piece and a leader and just an incredible athlete

Trading him is absurd! I'd stop watching this team and CF should get fired for something that insanely foolish

Just imagine the fans in the arena the last 6 weeks. Full capacity. I could see chairs raining down on the ice . These bums would be running to there $100 thousand cars and flying out of the parking lot like the overpaid female dogses that they are. Pathetic overpaid no second effort millionaires

Seeing as he wanted the Sabres to build a legit team and they went out and iced an all time terrible team it won’t shock me when he asks for a trade.

Don’t know if we have the assets to pull it off honestly though. Buffalo is going to want controllable players and Coots with limited time left on his deal is not that.

He is not a get in your face guy. He plays hockey the right way. He plays through torn knee ligaments in the playoffs. He plays against the other teams best players and regularly comes out on top.

If everyone on the Flyers played like Couturier we would not be having this discussion.

Let's say hypothetically that they blow this core up going forward. Who do you keep and who do you let go of?

Who are the cornerstones and future of this team?
Which pieces of this current core so we keep and who do we shop around?

Farabee
Provy
Hart

I’m 50/50 on Coots. You can keep him to build around. Lord knows you always need center depth. At the same time if the offer is just too good to pass up I think you have to do the deal. Flyers have a lot of holes to fill.

Everyone else fair game for fair, sensible trades.
