Uber skilled tho. Like Panarin-level.
I could see him giving this squad a Ville Leino-esque jolt. |

He is a UFA so it wouldn't be some longterm investment. He has zero physicality though. Have plenty of that type of player already.
I am fine either way on this one.

He's like a Ferrari. You don't ask him to haul cargo or offroad. Vroom vroom, go fast, score goals.
Ofc, AV would probably play him on the 4th line w/ Bunnaman and ask him to chip n chase. Then Fletch would put him on the taxi squad for kicks. |

Well, that is definitely what Coach Tortellini in Columbus would do. |

He is highly skilled... it’s just he looks disinterested playing in some games....hey wait? He might fit right in. |

He might still be zapped from Covid. Had a few nagging injuries too.

The players salary’s and the price of going to a game have increased!
Yep, that’s a winning formula for the team and players but not so much for us fans! |

This is a tough one, it really depends on this off season. I think some ingredients are there and with the right moves to augment these ingredients they can be "reasonable" contenders even sooner than 4 years. So right now I have to answer 50% - jd250
Sorry, you nay have misread/misunderstood my original query. Contenders are many, but there is only 1 winner.
Lets be more precise about this. If you were a bookie, what odds would you offer for Flyers to win the cup once in the next 4 years?
(Given the confusion re: the same question, I am going to treat this series as 1 question)
EDIT: Alternatively, you could simply rank teams in likelihood of winning at least 1 cup in the next 4 years in your head, and say where Flyers rank in that order of likelihood. We will get approximate odds from that. |

What were the odds of the Dallas Stars making it to the finals last year out of the west over Vegas and Colorado? What were the odds in 18/19 of TB losing in the first round. What were the odds of St. Louis winning the Cup.
4 years is an eternity in hockey. An entire roster can be overturned.

There is no reason why Couturier can't remain a top center into his middle 30's. - MJL
Agree with this. And I think Couturier is the PERFECT player you want to help as your team as maybe younger players are coming in. I really think he is the next Captain here and provides what you want from a team leader. |

Very good, very good.
Ha ha ha.
The optimism in this board is both baffling and heartwarming. That is roughly the same odds that Hurricanes have for this year's cup.
But I will wait till JD250 answers.

keep selke, keep clode, keep laughton, wait for the "young" guys to grow and get better. Best plan laid out by far. |

thats pretty bad when anyone considers you to be worse than a team that doesnt actually exist yet

Touché. Answered below.
By this, I guess you mean the month of March? Yeah I would say they bear more blame than the players. As to go, no, too early, imo.
Regarding the other stuff of mine you responded too, my argument is really based on the following premise:
Couts' peak and the ascent of our young players are likely not well correlated. My entire premise is rebuilding through youth. It seems too early to give up on any one of our young players now. - PT21
Ok, tracking better now. You seemed to agree that the Coaches had to go as the original poster stated and that was not how you have spoken to this point.
I agree that Coots may not be the same, and you could get a haul for him, I just think he will be just as valuable mixed with the kids, playing the great defensive forward role he always has and that in itself may be worth it when he is on the back nine of his career. I think you keep him FOR the kids.
