What message does it send to young players who are playing well and producing, when inferior players to them are recalled to the NHL club?
- PLindbergh31

i see your point, but what message will it send them when they're eventually chasing the game and getting stapled to the bench for something that probably isn't their fault? i can't see the future, but with the way the team is playing that's likely to happen.

Who is an overpaid player with term and substantial playoff experience? Because I guarantee you that’s the trade the Flyers will be making in the offseason at this rate.

Well said and to the point. How can the same lineup that was on fire last year go downhill so quickly. Niskanen was a loss for sure but I still blame AV 100 percent. What coach goes public with bashing his players like this. Carter Hart will never have a career in Philadelphia the way its going, Konecny will be moving too while the deadwood will remain forever. AV is a stubborn self centered idiot and this worst team in the league performance can not be blamed on the players, they have obviously tuned him out. Fire the facker and make some changes. Waiving Ghost and playing Gustaffson is pathetic,,, Gust is absolutely the worst dman in the nhl, I do not even call him a dman. His coverage on that one goal was pathetic.

waiving Ghost and having to play Gus is probably more on Fletcher than AV

Trading couturier I agree should be on the table. But I want can’t miss top prospects not picks. Teams would line up.

I’d at least explore what he could fetch

- Just5

Luckily, I'm confident Fletcher would not do this.

Don’t know how I feel about this.

Why ? This team (frank)ing blows...I welcome anyone that might be part of the solution. Kids been lighting it up...it’s a well earned promotion.

Couts' peak and the ascent of our young players are likely not well correlated. My entire premise is rebuilding through youth. It seems too early to give up on any one of our young players now.

There is no reason why Couturier can't remain a top center into his middle 30's.

I can't imagine that the suits at comcast would be going in for a full rebuild at this point.

and that is what that would be.

I don't have an issue with playing more talented players. Bunnaman and Twarynski are not NHL players. They are going to see if more talented players can add something to the team. I guess Lindblom and Patricks reset will continue? Or maybe Hayes and Voracek are healthy scratches.

Doing nothing during this non competitive month of hockey is going on is unacceptable. At least they are trying something.

My only comment about the index passive strategy is that it is far less passive than people believe. The indices (S&P500, Dow) etc are re-balanced frequently to reflect company performance.

In just doing the best you can, spending to the max, and drafting and developing well, there is no active adjustment at all. The tie breaker across all teams becomes pure luck.

EDIT: Mickel25 corrected this in what he wrote above. Its less passive than I said, more like a passive+re-balancing approach.

Another completely irrelevant analogy.

Get ready for it. All of this talk about retaining salary and trading players. Very difficult. Most likely deal has similar salary and term coming back.

Still does not look like they are on the same page then. What really bothers me is AV bashing Hart publicly. It is all over SN and TSN here and really if you saw what is happening in Philly like we do we know it is not all on Hart who is being singled out by his coach. To be honest I am shocked at how many free loaders are now on this team!

Perfect player to keep. Unless given an offer you can't turn down. It's a mistake to trade Laughton.
- MJL

maybe the Laughton of 20 games ago

If memory serves me (and it doesnt all the time anymore) at one point this season, the Sharks were like 47 million against the cap for the year 2024.

They have an entire team full of Stanley Cup winner sunset deals... except nobody on that team has ever won a Stanley Cup before.

Now, what % chance would you attribute to this possibility?
- PT21

This is a tough one, it really depends on this off season. I think some ingredients are there and with the right moves to augment these ingredients they can be "reasonable" contenders even sooner than 4 years. So right now I have to answer 50%

So now we are signing 3rd/4th line players for 3.5 to 4 mil a year...great plan in a flat cap.
