That is more succinct than I would put it, but I can't argue with your point - DaveofYork
Bright side....the bullpen can’t be as bad as last year. |

In addition, we have assigned forwards Connor Bunnaman and Carsen Twarynski to the Phantoms from the Taxi Squad.
Anyone in this thread who said why would prospects be added to the dysfunction better shred the team now. Or you're a fraud. |

Flyers are officially the worst team in the NHL. So much talent and a coach that is ruining young players and management that sits idle watching it happen. So close to saying goodbye to my fav team since the Lindros days. Watching this is detrimental to living a healthy life, lol |

My only comment about the index passive strategy is that it is far less passive than people believe. The indices (S&P500, Dow) etc are re-balanced frequently to reflect company performance.
In just doing the best you can, spending to the max, and drafting and developing well, there is no active adjustment at all. The tie breaker across all teams becomes pure luck.
EDIT: Mickel25 corrected this in what he wrote above. Its less passive than I said, more like a passive+re-balancing approach. - PT21
In regards to the indices, ceteris paribus!
Luck is certainly a portion of the algorithm, however management should be doing as much as active adjusting possible to reduce its impact on the outcome. |

Q1: Do you believe the Flyers, with the current constraints (mix of players, contracts, age, development etc.) are reasonable championship contenders in the next 4 years?
Please note: I underline reasonable. Don't say it could happen. Look at the team and past history of champions and tell if they are. - PT21

For the record, I think drafting and developing players effectively is very important to a teams overall success. All good teams draft and develop well. I do not believe you have to be non competitive for multiple years to get the right players to win.
I believe in building from the middle out. Get the right players at center, defense and in goal and your team will be good. I value centers over wingers for the most part. Wingers like Ovechkin should get the big contracts with term. Wingers like Jake Voracek probably should not. I value patience with young players. Especially, those that have shown signs of being good/great NHL level players.
I am fine making trades and signing FA's. Just do not think you should make trades just to make them. I believe in maximizing assets.
The current Flyers roster needs more physicality at forward and defense. I think they could easily add a physical winger right now. Of course that will not correct all of the issues on this team, but it would be a start. Might get them engaged on a regular basis.
I am fine with waiting until the offseason to do something major. I do believe they should sell veterans like Raffl, Elliot, Braun and anyone else deemed necessary at the TDL. - mickel25
Completely agree with the lack of physicality on the team. I know he didn't score a lot, but Pitlick brought that to the team and Niskanen certainly knew how to pick his spots. For their size, I feel as though Sanheim and Myers have no sandpaper to their games and it's why the lose puck battles easily.
I'm 100% on board with trading away vets at the deadline for anyone willing to take them. Going to be tough to do for anyone that is a UFA after this season. |

Team is totally dysfunctional. Not sure whom, when, or if someone in the organization will ever have the stones to come out and say it, but it’s obvious something or someone has to go ASAP. We’re seeing a team crumble right before our eyes, night in and night out. These Flyers have NO identity whatsoever...it’s embarrassing. Zero emotion shown on ice tonight...barely a whimper. For everyone on these boards that posit in today’s NHL you don’t need physical players, deterrents on the ice, etc., I say BS! The best teams — even most bad teams — stick up for one another and show emotion when things go sour on the ice. Not with this group. There’s something rotten in the locker room, most likely with multiple players, and it’s time for the organization to make changes - now!!
Been a fan since 1973...at this point in time, I’m honestly embarrassed to be a Flyers fan. - BroadSTmayhem
Well said and to the point. How can the same lineup that was on fire last year go downhill so quickly. Niskanen was a loss for sure but I still blame AV 100 percent. What coach goes public with bashing his players like this. Carter Hart will never have a career in Philadelphia the way its going, Konecny will be moving too while the deadwood will remain forever. AV is a stubborn self centered idiot and this worst team in the league performance can not be blamed on the players, they have obviously tuned him out. Fire the facker and make some changes. Waiving Ghost and playing Gustaffson is pathetic,,, Gust is absolutely the worst dman in the nhl, I do not even call him a dman. His coverage on that one goal was pathetic. |

I guess I hadn’t considered Sandin, I think he was out injured at some point also. He is on an expiring contract and was a FA acquisition so I guess they really do need to see what they have at the NHL level.
Laczynski, as a center, that is not a good move. I think we have seen the transition to center position at the NHL level isn’t easy for young players at the best of times. This is not the best of times, it is the w...... It’s kind of throwing him into the deep in. He is doing so well right now with the Phantoms, absolutely excelling. Seems like a poor reward.

Yes...I would be on board...although Coots is only a year away from being a UFA....Buffalo wouldn’t do that with no guarantee for a long term Coots deal....why would the player ever agree to that? As well, You have to think Coots will want a NMC from the Flyers in the next deal if he does sign here. - landros 2
Noooo.
I want them to be our #1 & #2 centers for the next 7 years. |
