Unless he can get someone with term that he thinks will be part of the solution, there is no way he is buying. This team is going no where, even getting McDavid wouldn't make a difference on this team, there is something seriously wrong here.
- jd250

Fletch should have been a buyer....like 4 months ago. They are just not a very good team. Fletch mis calculated where some of these guys were and are. What we a watching is some young players that still need to develop. By the time that happens the core vets will be older and even less productive then they are today. The failed approach of the last regime still lingers like a stench of incompetence.

The team work ethic has been missing for some time.
"The Kids" aren't kids anymore and aren't the great prospects as some thought they would be. Drafting tall soft or undersized players that do well in the Juniors doesn't translate well to the NHL.
I'm usually an optimistic person when it comes to the Flyers, now I don't care who they sell.

Yes, well .. I still want Ekholm, but I came around weeks ago that Ekholm alone will do little to fix this. Like I said, the problem with this team is beyond the skill on the ice, there is some sort of rift behind the scenes, maybe factions from the team against AV.
- jd250

We’re a good team. There is obviously more going on than Matt Niskanen retiring. With this said, a proper replacement, leadership and coaching would go along way here. I’m all for an upgrade on defense because Provorov is like a starving Ethiopian kid without food out there. Get this guy a true partner.

This team makes me question whether Hakstol was a bad coach. Most of this team was there then.

Cmon. Gustafsson, Bunnaman, the goaltending, the Sanheim/Myers paring. All wildly entertaining.

I am not to the point of blaming Fletcher here, at least not yet. G and Jake make over $8M a season, JVR and Hayes make $7M+. These are your highest paid players and lets face it, none of them are elite. G and Hayes have NMCs so they aren't going anywhere, JVR came into camp in shape and has had a good year, and Jake is Jake, we are stuck with him. So I'm not sure what Fletcher can do, especially with the ED coming up. Maybe after the ED, he will be able to move one from at least Jake. I would absolutely ask G to waive his NMC, we need to move on from him.

If not Ekholm...then a guy like him...with term, non rental that can come in and help settle down this group. I never thought AV would struggle like this, you really have to think Fletch needs to reassess this teams direction.

I agree with everything you posted here except "We're a good team". Good teams do not lose two games 6-1 to Buffalo!

Well, Nashville is making the playoffs now so they are not selling, at least at the deadline. Maybe in the off season. Top pairing defenseman don't grow on trees. I really wish Hextall listened to his scouts in 2017! We at least be all set on D if he did.

Giroux ain’t going anywhere...his time in Philly may not last past this contract. I don’t think it’s all on him. I keep herding about all the great young guys we have....most have fallen off a cliff this year. 3 of the young core of who’s supposed to be your future were healthy scratches tonight....these guys aren’t rookies....this shouldn’t be happening...the whole organization needs to figure it out...but the regression of so many of the guys this year doesn’t reflect well at all on the organization....are we to beleive they are all struggling with the covid issue? Really...more excuses as far as I’m concerned.

I don’t believe we are a good team. Having talent doesn’t make a team good....all teams in the NHL have talent.

I’ve been a Flyers fan since 1969 this group may be the worst group I’ve seen. There is something serious wrong in the locker room. I don’t see any leadership with this group. The core veteran group should be leading by example, skating hard, sticking up for each other, holding themselves accountable. This group is lazy, selfish, feel sorry for themselves and give up when push comes to shove. This could be a big reason the younger players never develop to their potential in this environment.

The last few weeks have been the worst example of team leadership! I have no doubt 28,93 are nice people, family men and nice members of the Philadelphia community but team leaders they are not.
I would love to hear honest comments from past leaders like Dave Poulin, Bobby Clarke who led by example!

- Hosher12

Agreed with everything you said in that last paragraph. It’s time for a change in leadership.

The only thing that has changed within 6 months is Niskanen out and Gustafson in. We’re a good team. Believe whatever you want but only one person is right here and that’s me.

I posted at the beginning of this season that the Flyers young players were good but not great, and I didn't see much that could be great. I got lambasted for posting this but I was right. I told everyone Patrick was a bust, and even if he was able to play this year he would not give you anymore than he did his first two season. He hasn't even given us that! I didn't see it in Lindblom before his unfortunate medical conditions, and I don't see much more now. I think he is a nice bottom 6 player, and considering he was a 5th round pick, that's about right. I didn't think Ghost was good even if he did bounce back and its obvious the coaches feel the same way. I didn't thing Sanhiem and Myers would ever be top pairing Dmen and again, that is clearly the case right now. I wanted to see more from Farabee and so far he has shown that he can grow into a great player, at least there is hope there. I also believe Hart will be fine eventually. I said TK was just about what he was, and again that has proven to be true as well. Hextall had 6 drafts and got some good players, but nothing that will move the needle, at least not yet.

But its the veteran players that I want moved out of here, before they infect the younger players. These veterans are uncoachable IMO, they just don't get it and will never get it. Fletcher has got to find a way to get rid of them.

They need an Alexei Lalas type rant right now. On second thought, they’ve probably been yelled at a bunch of times this year and it’s obviously done squat.

I won’t be shocked if G is asked for his list of teams this summer. I don’t think he’ll be the first head to roll but it’s certainly possible.

They gotta Tina a way to drop one of JVR or Jake. That’s just too much money tied up in average wingers.
