They are not using that in this context. They believe he is the best dman. Period. |

I forget just how different hb'ers are from users on other sites. I'm so used to seeing people poop all over Ghost here, but I ventured over to BSH and HFBoards for the first time in a long time yesterday and most people were so upset at Fletch that they were basically burning jerseys. - Tomahawk
funny I don't even look at the other boards but I just did, very different from my brief look. It is an easy read, I didn't see any comments that looked like novels or pages of 1 v 1 Richard contests. Overall, pretty boring |

I keep going back to the "Behind the Glass" episode with Ghost and his dogs. How are those poor puppies going to handle having to move to another city...
Don't get me wrong, I am a dog person. I have two myself. But that whole situation just felt strange to me.
I have to believe some team claims him. Gus and Morin on 3rd pair tonight. |

If he is claimed I will be curious what he has to say. Does he take the high road or scorch the earth? |

i just hope they're not really interested in bernier. can't imagine he looks much better with the breakdowns on defense that this team is regularly having. get help on defense, don't get another goalie. - Ftown19125
Right now do you think Bernier is an upgrade over Hart and or Elliot? |

I know most people here hate Ghost but this waiving him just doesn't sit right with me.
Regardless of the real reason, the optics look like he is a scapegoat and the team is using him as punishment when there are plenty of other players who are way more culpable. Voracek being #1 in my eyes.

I think "hate" is too strong. I think he excels on the PP and anytime in the offensive zone. His speed is average, yet seems to be quick. He turns over the puck on occasion which seems more because he handles the puck so much. Where he is just bad... He severely lacks in his own defensive zone. It's not his talent or effort, but lack of size. He gets out muscled by the bigger forwards in the league.
Prior to the season, I had hope Gus would be a better version on Ghost... not the case. Gus seems to be worse that Ghost (although, Ghost does have the benefit of being here for a while). I believe the reason Ghost got waived over Gus was only the contracts: $3M and UFA at the end of the year, or $4.5M for a few years.

Totally different world but it’s a bit cult like. They’ve been screaming Ghost is his 2016 version of himself for 5 years now. And also that AV is the worst coach in history, guy has his flaws but come on |

If the reason he was waived is for management to send a message, that is a bush league move. It also shows how little team leadership listens and responds to coaching and management words. This team needs to be blown up. |

The other night during the game Jonesy said the players aren’t listening to the coaches. If this holds any weight, this move could make the players tune them out even more. As many have pointed out (including Bill), the Flyers could have sent Gus down. Who knows maybe the move wakes everybody the (frank) up. But I still worry - arichardson22
Yeah if waiving Ghost was a "message" in any form, we know 100% where the problem lies in the organization.
If Ghost is unclaimed and plays tonight...the only thought is 30 teams in the NHL could have you for FREE and passed. There is no it's more complicated...they said NO THANK YOU. |

Mononoke claimed for years that Gostisbehere was a number one defenseman and him and Gudas were the top pair of the future. |

The problem with Ghost is he is paid way to much. Him making 2.5 to play to your bottom pair and PP is no issue. To get value from him he needs to be on the top unit PP at this time. The coach figured that out with JVR but still is blind when it comes to Ghost. Defensively Ghost is held to a higher standard than others; not sure why.
If they can get out of the contract that is big win seeing where Ghost stands on this team.

I honestly would have been ok with bringing Gudas back via FA. Certainly couldn’t have been worse than Gus |

to be fair...none of us are in the locker room or on the ice in practices. what if Ghost is the "loudest" one in terms of not listening or talking back/disrespecting the coaches recommendations and opinions? Im not saying he is or he isnt but its something to think about if they believe he is a potential ringmaster of people not listening.

Not sure about he’s been our best. But he’s been better than he has in the past. Yes low bar. He does not carry the load provie or even sanhiem does. |

Yeah.. I was crazy confused by that on the last thread. I still don't fully blame the goalies.. bring in Vas and he'd still let some in with this team d. |

Waiving for a message is what writers and fans make up.
I am curious about the locker room and the make up. Too many times has this been brought up. |

Just curious, does anybody here know how waiver claims work? Is it a first dibs situation or does each team get a opportunity to make a claim ordered by the standings? - mkabbeko
Goes by the standings, last place in the league (Buffalo) to first.

In many ways, I feel bad for Ghost. I'll be 100% honest, I was a big fan of his coming out college and was excited when he got the call up, tearing it up in his rookie season. Even though he had a sophomore slump, I believe the following year, he was 4th in the league among d-men in points. It was interesting to hear Mike Rupp's take on Ghost on NHL radio yesterday, in which he indicated Ghost hasn't been the same since Provorov's arrival and I believe there is a lot of truth to that. Ghost's minutes went down, including being removed from PP1 and his injuries started to pile up. He quickly became a whipping boy for many on this site, as are other players (Giroux) that some feel aren't good enough no matter what they do. Is Ghost the next Victor Hedman? No, he isn't. He doesn't have the size or physicality to do what many on this board want every d-man to do (Pronger), so he will lose puck battles (Sanheim & Myers lost plenty of them even though both players are 6'2"+). Does Ghost make a great outlet pass? Definitely! Great shot? Check! Excellent lateral movement to create space? Sure does! PP QB? Absolutely! Not to mention he seems as though he's very supportive of his teammates (Hart & Morin).
As good as Provorov is, he is not anywhere near as good a PP QB as Ghost is, yet the last few coaching staffs can't see that or don't want to, even though several NHL analysts have admitted as much.
Part of me hopes he clears waivers so he remains a Flyer. Another part of me hopes he gets claimed by a contender and they use him the right way. |

Except that things actually do get done for that reason sometimes. Not as a primary reason but as an ancillary consideration.
