Kravs should have gotten a shot last year out of camp. He played fine in the pre-season, had goals and assists. At least give him a shot before you banish him to Hartford. You do remember we were a long shot to make the playoffs, especially before Shesterkin got called up and Zib went on his heater or do you have selective memory. Chityl got to play as an 18 year old, Lias too, so not sure why Krav didn't get that chance especially after we had to lure him away from Russia.

Kakko was the one who said he was unhappy, he simply didn't get enough chances playing with quality players last year, he had a super short leash but he should have gotten more chances early in the season when the team had no expectations of making the playoffs. You do remember how dominant he was in the world championships right? 6 goals and 7 points in 10 games for the gold medal winners playing against men is pretty good, no?

Like I said, he's a very average coach who gets talked about on here way too much both by the haters and the lovers. But there's been plenty of teams that have turned it around when they have a new voice, and it seems in the past there have been enough players that haven't necessarily enjoyed him being the messenger.

there's no Quinn lovers, there are Quinn haters and those of us who try to look at it reasonably

Kravs should have been playing over one of Buch, Kakko and Fast (we both agree he should not have been in the lineup as a 4th liner)? Chytil and Lias played when they were younger because we had a different team AND they played a position that we were thin at. Apples to oranges comparison. I guess I see your point that Kravs should have been rewarded for having a good camp, but that decision isn't solely made by Quinn.

The Kakko comment is incorrect. He said he wished he was playing on the top line, but acknowledged that he needed to play better before that could happen. Here's that full quote, with the bold part being the most important: "Hockey isn’t very much fun for me right now,” Kakko said. “Things haven’t been working out, and sometimes I feel like I could be on the ice a bit more. It would be cool to get a chance on the first line at some point. I understand that it hasn’t been realistic so far, since I haven’t really showed much" We've all seen the difference between last years KK and this years. So what has Quinn done wrong there? If anything, I would say since he's gotten better, both Kappo and the Org (quinn included) deserve some praise

I'll give you that I didn't have the Kakko comment 100% correct, and Kakko has been much better this year and is thus getting the longer leash, but is Kakko just becoming the player he would have been or is it that Quinn has developed him in ways he otherwise wouldn't have been if it was someone other than Quinn?

I'm optimistic for where the future of the team is headed, and think Quinn can become a good coach and hopefully a Stanley Cup winning coach but I could also see them getting rid of Quinn if they don't finish this season strong and have another slow start to next year. So far he's been pretty average IMO.

I mean, Kakko had freaking Covid and he's a diabetic, how is that not a legit excuse for him not blowing the doors off in this stupid season

I can't believe I'm saying this, but MDW was right. This place has become unbearable with the Quinn bs.

Man, just picked this blog back up and nothing has changed. Bunch of chimps throwing crap at each other.

Can't wait for the game to start.

We were talking about last year and the lack of opportunities he had, especially in the beginning of the season when he was coming off of a stellar world championships and being a dominant force at traverse city.

Other than goals he's been one of our better forwards this season, I don't think anyone disagrees with that, and the goals are coming.

Now that we're pretty much on the same page, I think this is a fair place to start a rational conversation about Quinn as the HC of the Rangers.

I agree, average is a fair word. His record, not that I think it's the ultimate judge of his abilities, is proof of that. He certainly has his faults (i.e. slow starts), and those should not be overlooked. He also deserves some credit for instilling a defense first attitude. He holds players accountable in that regard and I agree with that philosophy.

Is he the coach that's going to bring us to the promise land? I'm not sure. I certainly hope so, but the verdict is still out on that. Is he a good coach for where the organization finds itself (nearing the end of a rebuild)? Yeah, I think he fits that bill well.

Apologies to the board and to you for mucking poop up. Thank you for the healthy discussion. I hope we both were able to take something positive away from the debate. I'm just at wits end with the irrational fandom of this team.

Yet you cited how people on here are calling for his benching as a reason my defense of Quinn was uncalled for.

I think the fact that it's on a message board and not over beers makes things seem more intense than they are. He hasn't done a bad job, I just think all of us have gotten increasingly higher expectations since the letter, then the Panarin and Trouba moves, then the ping pong ball luck, I know I certainly had higher hopes for them going into this season than I probably should have. If you were to told me when the letter came out that this is where we would be at this time I think we'd all be pretty happy. Here's to hoping they continue the upward trend they have over the past month, and we can worry more about who we're playing then who is coaching.

Was simply pointing out that while some of us can see his growth there are still some people who expect more out of him. Wouldn't you like to see him shoot more? I know I would and I'm sure a lot of others, Quinn himself even said after last game he wished he'd shoot more.

Is Kakko good because Quinn developed him into what he is, or was Kakko always going to be good because of his natural talent/work ethic, I'd probably go with the latter at this point.

The reason Kakko didn't get top 6 last year was, doesn't anyone remember how insane our top six was. Who were you going to take out?

Fast, the irony of that is Kakko is playing like Fast this year which is awesome. The goals will come
