Possible what teams and contracts could the hawks take advantage of with their LTRI cap space? - Scott1977
Florida - Strallman
Maple Leafs - Nylander, Kefoot (Not necessarily bad, but Toronto has to shed again), would love if Stan can sign Zach Hyman as a UFA
Vancouver - Louie Erickson
Flyers- Gothespiere, Van Riemsdyk

There was the rumor before the season began of a trade sending Strome to Vegas for Tuch + prospect but Chicago wanted a higher-caliber prospect than what the Golden Knights were offering up.
Tuch could be a contract that Vegas is looking to unload (5 more years at $4.75M AAV). He's having a pretty good year but power forwards often fluctuate in offensive totals.
His contract could be a bargain for the next 5 seasons or a burden if he's inconsistent. - Theo Fox
I thought that rumor was started on hockey but I was posted by one of the people on here? I've never seen it anywhere else |

Just noticed on Vancouver - they have a $3M recapture penalty this year and next on Luongo. Ouch.
Eriksson is the perfect candidate for Stan to trade for. Would allow Van to get a real player elsewhere. |

I saw the rumor posted on Twitter and on another Blackhawks message board, assumedly by the same person. It was one of those "I have a friend who works in the front office for X team" so take it with a grain of salt. |

What would have to back on the hawks side if a trade between islanders and hawks including hawks taking ladd contract and either bellows or wilde?

Probably Janmark, but I think they are looking bigger like Hall. They were looking for scoring before Lee got hurt, but with his money on LTIR they could go bigger.

Van just signed Demko 5×5. Holtby is now a target for the Hawks cap space. |
|
|
|
Well, neither one of those teams has won yet. And which model has done better in the salary cap era? - mohel
I can’t argue with that. But I don’t see a stud forward, a stud dman, or an elite goalie on the horizon and if we don’t sink to the bottom we won’t be in position to draft them. |
|

Nah, they played a very nice game last night unfortunately it was mostly in their own end. Sell sell sell - BetweenTheDots
Sell if it is a hockey deal or financial deal that makes sense. No rush to move Soderberg or Janmark unless there is a decent return. deHaan is another story. |

I would take Vancouver's first for Holtby cap space, way it is looking, Vancouver's first will be higher than the Hawks.

I could see VAN trading him instead of losing him for nothing to Seattle. CAR and COL could use a goalie with playoff experience. Will the Hawks facilitate a trade by taking on cap space for a trade to CAR a division opponent this year, or COL a division opponent next year when things return to normal?

VAN is rebuilding. Doubt if they trade away their 1st round pick. They'll want something in return for him. CAR and COL possible destinations.
Maybe TOR since Anderssen and Campbell are hurt. Also no quarantine period if going from Canucks to Leafs. |

What would be worse is if Seattle doesn't take him

I agree with your assessment. I do think Dach can be really good, and there's a decent chance of getting three very good #2 d-men out of the prospect pool. I personally think they need at least one more stud at forward - not necessarily Hall of Famers, but damn good. I'm not worried about goalie. |

I have no idea what the value is but few, if any, teams have the ability to soak up big contracts for the rest of this season and all of the next. Teams that have bad contracts can use that space to offload a bad deal, freeing up that cap space to trade for someone to help them in the playoff run. We'll see how much a team making a run values that cap space. |

Florida signs Spencer Knight to an ELC. Figure a year in the AHL then should be ready to join the Panthers. Only problem is that Bobo will stay have 4 years left at 10M |

I think the Hawks need to follow the Vegas or Carolina models of good or really good players up and down the lineup without elite players. That is instead of the Tampa or Florida models that have high priced elite players. Barkov/Ekblad/Bob. Hedman/Kucherov/Vasilevsky. - Ztra
Aho and Slavin are Elite by that measure. Svechnikov is knocking on the door. |

So, if a team signs a kid to a three year ELC and cuts him after one season, he counts toward the 50 the next two years? - mohel
Unless they buy him out, yes. There is no cutting players in the NHL. You sign poop. You keep poop unless you can convince another GM it really isn't poop. |

That is correct on the start of Phillips' ELC. Same with Slavin as his doesn't kick in until next season.
If that's the case, they can play for Rockford all season on ATOs to develop.
The head scratcher is Krutil. He's been terrible and is way above his head playing pro. It's peculiar the Hawks signed him to a contract before Phillips. - Theo Fox
There is nothing on CF that Krutil has signed an ELC. |

You can cut him, but he still has a contract that must be fulfilled. I doubt you can cancel a contract. - LAHawk
Yes, you can: “Additionally, a player and team may mutually agree to terminate a contract at any time. This process can only be completed if the player clears unconditional waivers.” (Wiki)
Recently, Jeremy Bracco in Toronto: https://twitter.com/Fried...tatus/1354113014337835010
Anyway, Lindholm, B. Morrison and Q are the obvious choices to give away for a bag of pucks if need be quickly.
