Vegas will not make any significant deadline deals. They are only loosing one player to expansion, after all.

Know this: they have a few promising young players whom are already playing NHL and do not need to be protected. I believe they are reluctant to trade them. The improvements through free agency or otherwise has not cost them any of those kids

Not only do they not wish to trade their own younger players, but also you cannot pick up term where the years remaining on a contract is going to hamstring the process to keep their future salary cap in good order.

You cannot expect a very good dman would become available and would replace the injured Pietrangelo. If any top player was available, is the contract up after this season. Even if it was, I would be against trading picks and top young players. Why is such a player even available? Unless you are talking enigmatic Hamilton. But surely Carolina wants playoff success badly and would not significantly weaken their blueline

Vegas may like to add a veteran goaltender, however, if this can be on the cheap.

They do not like the goaltenders they have in the AHL. Both Fluery and Lehner have injury issues as a concern. Their history to have injuries, not that either is down right now. There are plenty of goaltenders whom could be extracted; the more sought after netminders might be cost prohibitive either in salary retention or too high a draft choice/too good a prospect departure.

LA Hawk would know whether Quick is worth acquiring. I wouldn't expect anything else if even a goaltender add. There is always the possible two for one deal where Vegas is looking to upgrade a position....but with expansion and covid affect on attendance, teams are wary of adding to their salary cap.

#1 Vegas is exempt from the expansion draft,

#2 Quick is injury prone, and has 2 years after this at $5.8 mil. Kings have had him on the market for awhile, but teams are scared of his groin issues and the term.

He also hasn't been very good with sub .900 save percentage 2 out of the last 3 years and a .904 in the year he was above.

I couldn't agree more about Mitchell. I'm not knocking him and I think he will still be really good, but he needs to improve before he goes back out.

I'm on record liking Kalynuk's beginning here. I hope he gains some confidence.

I think it is great that a majority of the young guys are busting their arses to compete for a spot and get better.

Don't stray from the path this year.

Maybe Mitchell needs MORE to appreciate and understand what the coaches say and needs LESS to try the stretch passes he has attempted so often

JC said Mitchell is lazy and isn't trying to improve. He's a bust.

with how the trade market looks now. dumping matta with $750K retention looks like a really good deal now.

Everyone wants to get a chance to play!

Mike Hardman is driving from his home in Massachusetts to Chicago today to shorten his required quarantine for the Blackhawks. It would be longer if he flew commercial.

Thanks LA HAWK. I expected to hear just that regarding Quick. Although I forgot about Vegas being exempt - wow.

Is it too early to craft a tentative opinion on just how good the new kid on the block for Vegas might fare compared to other developing dmen around the league. Talking Coghlin.

Anoher newbie is just signed M Boldy, a 2019 #12 overall by Minny Wild. Good down low, big scorer. Just completed two seasons at BC in Hockey East and had a pivotal role in scoring for team USA in the last WJC. He is reporting directly to the farm team, where he can next light up the Rockford Icehogs!

Good points hawk was just asking if vegas would like to get rid if bad contract that the hawks could absorb with their LTRI cap space and maybe get a prospect or get a draft pick back.

The only bad contract they have is Fleury, but he is having a Vezina Trophy year since Lehner went out for a significant period of time with an injury, so maybe Lehner's contract is now the bad one?

Perhaps you may recall the rookie flash Don Murdock, NYR in 1976 had 32 goals.

That was the same year Bobby Orr was loosing his battle of wounded knee with Chicago. Isn't it interesting Hull left then old man Wirtz was willing to pay Orr. Wirtz didn't like a new league sort of like refusing to accept a union exists for workers and you have to pay more.

The infamous pink slip under the door for Billy Reay - same year.

Couldn't blame a fax machine back then like maybe some did for the Tallon contract screw up.over three decades later.

Well, Phillips deal apparently doesn’t start until next season, so Stan is is still responsible for only 49....
- StLBravesFan

That is correct on the start of Phillips' ELC. Same with Slavin as his doesn't kick in until next season.

If that's the case, they can play for Rockford all season on ATOs to develop.

The head scratcher is Krutil. He's been terrible and is way above his head playing pro. It's peculiar the Hawks signed him to a contract before Phillips.

What would vegas need to improve their roster that Chicago might have and what from vegas would be willing to trade?
- Scott1977

There was the rumor before the season began of a trade sending Strome to Vegas for Tuch + prospect but Chicago wanted a higher-caliber prospect than what the Golden Knights were offering up.

Tuch could be a contract that Vegas is looking to unload (5 more years at $4.75M AAV). He's having a pretty good year but power forwards often fluctuate in offensive totals.

His contract could be a bargain for the next 5 seasons or a burden if he's inconsistent.

Peculiar? OK, yes. More like "mistake." BTW can't quite comprehend if Altybarmakian is a pretty fair prospect, he does not get healthy scratch due to a numbers game with roster size.

And....after Kaiser amazing feat I am keeping him in mind for a spot on Chicago's defense minimum one more season collegiate

The obvious point you allude is whether Tuch has....um...the touch to become a power forward big time scorer.

Would he make a difference. Sure....worth it for the production in playoffs FWIW yes I would be interested if he was affordable in a trade deadline move......which he is not .....he has not blossomed yet and although he might do well, no big time scorer do I see in him. Cost too much. Pass.
