Seeing highlights of the Avs game from last night... their coach is an idiot (and players for that matter) are idiots. Up 8-3 with 5 minutes left and you send Mackinnons line out there and they are actually forechecking and trying to score.

Then Mackinnon gets into it in the corner and rips a guys helmet off and tosses it in his face.

I am telling you, two teams, the Oilers and the Avs will not win a Stanley Cup. The stats are deceiving... burying a bad team by 5 goals and putting up a poopload of points isn't better than winning by 3 and having your guys just relax and stay healthy. These guys are notorious for it.

Yeah must suck to have a bunch of guys that try hard all the time. Lol how many times have people ripped on stacked teams for doing exactly what you said and just going through the motion and cruising through wins? Narrative is always “this team’s in for a rude awakening once the playoffs start and the intensity gets dialed up”. None of this poop matters. They either will win or they won’t, whether they’re sitting on two/three goal leads or trying to murder teams down the stretch.

That wasn't about having guys that try hard, that was about embarrassing the other team to pad your star players stats.

You say it doesn't matter, but it will matter when Mackinnon or McDavid get injured in the dying minutes of a blowout meaningless game. Everyone will be on here saying exactly what I'm saying.

I don't know about you guys, but I really hate when the Pens keep trying to score when they have a good lead.

Yup. If I was pitts coach I’d let the lower lines play more in the 3rd period of a blowout but I’d expect every shift of every game to be full effort.

I agree, it's not that you don't try to finish the game strong, but play a trap or a 122. Dont risk your top guys getting put in a bad position.

If the Pens are up 5 goals with 5 minutes to go in a game against a team that didn't show up, I'd be pissed to see Geno, Sid, Jake or Letang on the ice.

No teams does that. With two minutes to go yes, with five? No.

Not very often a team is up by that much that early but the great majority of teams would.

Meh... I didn't see the game, but If I'm up 8-3 in the dying minutes of the 3rd, the top line isn't touching the ice. Beyond the injury issue, I'll take any chance I get to give those guys some rest.

I thought the comment was about the idiot coach? Which I would agree with it. It's hard to shorten the bench down to two lines, but my superstars wouldn't see a second of those 5mins.

The same people subscribing to that logic are the same people that will complain that not playing them at the end of the game messed up their rhythm/chemistry/etc. the next time they lose.

Brandon Tanev and Teddy Blueger are on the ice for today's morning skate. Blueger's in a normal jersey.

So that's good news. No sign of Jarry. I'm thinking he has a conky.

Usually the organization is pretty transparent on concussions, but I wouldn't be shocked if it was one.

Doubt Teddy plays. I don't think he has had a full contact practice yet.

Yeah, maybe Tanev will play, but my sense is they will wait until next game.

Jarry is travelling so hopefully it is truly day to day fortunately CDS is killing it. Tanev is game time and hopefully that means Blueger is back in a game or 2 and then jank is on the taxi squad.

I guess when Blueger is back we'll get a better sense of where Jank stands.

Yeah. That’s kind of what I’m most excited for atm to be honest haha.

Anyone catch the hextall interview in regards to the trade deadline on the GM show? I know he’s usually pretty tight lipped so I’m guessing it wasn’t much.

Gaudreau played 18 minutes in that 2-1 win over the Isles and 17 minutes in the game prior. I know he is only getting time for injuries, but Sully trusts him a lot right now. Can't say the same for Jank. Only Sceviour and Angello played less

Didn't see the GM show. I'd be interested to hear what he said.
