There were plenty of rumors about the Habs trying to grab him 2 years ago.

Philly was asking for the goddamn moon. So it never happened.

- Scabeh

Ryder, Halak and a 2nd was a very fair offer.

Remember the days when people wanted Nylander for Ghost?

there were so many fans that would have traded willy for ...what ends up being (frank) all.

Yep, I wonder if someone gives him a shot after he gets bought out.
- Archaic

I think he will. GM's always think a fresh start is all a struggling player (who was once good) needs to find his game again. Plus if it's for league minimum, why not? See Dubas with Gally. He's playing well so far.

Nope. I picked Vasi. I'm pretty much wrong in everything else though.
- gergeswillems

That's strange. Did you edit your picks after you made them (but before the thread was locked, obviously)? I took the thread and used a series of formulas to make a matrix of our picks - but it is possible that there was some type of copy & paste incident that happened or something.

When I look in the thread, I see you picked Vasi - but I had it as this in the matrix:

Most surprising team: Ottawa
Most disappointing team: Calgary
Art Ross winner: Connor McDavid
Hart winner: Nathan MacKinnon
Norris winner: Carlson
Calder winner: Kaprizov
Vezina winner: Hart
Richard winner: Matthews

No matter. I'll correct it so we can discuss how stupid we all are at the end of the year.

Yes. I switched my Vezina pick just before the thread was locked. My Philly pick looks brilliant! 🤣

As long as a player has a good attitude they will find another chance. So many examples.

If they have a poop attitude they better just be able to play.

Very true, I am betting on Arizona to give him a chance, or Buffalo, because its Buffalo

No we don't.

We have two bottom 6 caliber players in the top 6 and a meh 3C. Fully healthy.

Wait until we run into injury problems like we are with goaltending. If we want a deep playoff run that will happen.

- Santo_44

What are you talking about. It's hockey... You always have more forwards than you do goalies.

We are an injury or two away from having to resort to the Petan, Barabanov, Robertson, Agostino types up front, on the 4th line... Not 1st.

We are a couple more injuries away from having Ian Scott or Joseph Woll as our literal starter.

Its not a debate it's a math equation. 12 forwards, 2 goalies makeup a team. One thins out way quicker than the other... And the result is not having to put a guy between the pipes to play 4th line minutes. 🤦🏻‍♂️

The offers from GMs must be just poop for their players at this point.

I don't recall exactly, but something like a very good prospect and a first or a good top 6 player.

If Tavares gets injured you still have Matthews, marner and Nylander who should be able to compensate.

When Andersen is hurt you have Campbell and Hutch. One gets to AHL levels rather quickly for a full 60 minutes of playing time.

You would imagine, and rightly so. Anyone gives up a 1st round pick for Hall for example is crazy. He has two goals

And when Andersen and Campbell are both hurt, you have Hutch... And 3 goalies with a combined 1 NHL start.

Yeah I definitely am worried about that being a thing in the playoffs well before I am worried about whether we are going to need Petan to step up to the third line.

I watched that 3rd period last night. Those poor ba$tards. I knew Buffalo was going to lose when Philly made it 3-1.

Im wondering what this type of losing is going to do to players like Dahlin. Feels like its ruining him.

Montreal has 6 games in hand on Calgary.

The playoff teams are decided in the North. No way Montreal is surpassed by Calgar or Vancouver.

If you're Buffalo and you two offers - 1st round pick at say 20th overall OR a 2nd + b-prospect and a cap dump...which do you take?

I think Wedgie did the math and the only part that could make it interesting is Calgary plays 5 games against the habs. If they somehow won all 5 in regulation it would make it interesting.
