I don't even know how they properly institute change in that league. You can start by increasing the punishment for idiocy, but then people appeal and some "neutral" arbitrator looks at past cases to determine if the penalty is fitting and then rules that it's too severe based on past precedent. How do you effect change?

They need to seriously punish this stuff. The fact that the Wilson hit on Carlo was even up for debate as to whether it was clean or not is preposterous. Maybe they need to get someone who isn't used to living with debilitating brain trauma to run the DOPS.

Remove the appeal process.

Whoever invented the greek salad was a genius
- TheMussel

Damn straight.

I see you posted "american" greek salad. I'm not sure which variants you're referring to, I know of:

Romaine, Tomato, Cucumber, Olives, Red Onion, Feta, Greek Dressing (Red Wine Vinegar / Olive Oil / Garlic / Salt / Pepper / Oregano)

And the other one which is largely the above, except it leaves out the romaine and adds in green peppers - so it's really a village salad.

One thing we used to do more frequently was have a roasted greek salad - which is really just taking cherry tomatoes, red onion, assorted peppers and roast them with the dressing, and then toss the roasted veggies with the feta & olives. It was fantastic. Should do that again soon, now that I mention it.

It's a thought, but the truth is that players also need some type of defense procedure. I'm a hockey guy primarily, and I also like baseball - because I like my sports super fast or super slow, but not in-between (yeah, I'm looking at you basketball and football) - but I know baseball has an appeals process, and have to imagine that football and basketball also have an appeals process for the players.

Completely spitballing in my tiny brain . . . If the DOPS was governed by both the league and the PA instead of just the league, it might provide room for compromise . . . ? For these cases, you basically have advocates on both sides of the ledger - the PA and the league. If they can agree immediately, then there's no appeal available. If they cannot agree, then it is decided by the head of the DOPS based on the evidence presented by the advocates, and it would be up for appeal, but likely only to the lesser proposed punishment as an option.

Ultimately, I guess it comes down to personnel behind the scenes. You need people who want to enact and enforce legitimate change - not just pay lip service, like they did when they fired Tim Heed.

Interesting that Bob's performance slipped immediately after signing his insane contract. I wonder if there's any correlation? 🤔

Lankinen and Roope Hintz living up to my hype.
Lankinen is 4th in league in minutes played so far this season with a save percentage of . 921 (Much much better than CHI other two goalies) and is one of the reasons Chicago can still think about playoffs.
Hintz has 23points in 23 games so far this season.

Good article on Galchenyuk on the Athletic.

Sounds like he was treated a bit unfairly in MTL by Therian and Bergavin. Was too hard on him for his defensive shortcomings and had some very bad influences in his dad and agent. Lost all his confidence and just needed a team willing to spend the time to take their time and work with him.

Seems like a really good person overall.

Small sample size but it's not impossible for him to regain his 55 point form.

- Santo_44

Oh please.

The guy was out a 4 AM completely drunk and he was supposed to practice the next morning for an upcoming game.

It's something everyone knew and plenty saw with their own eyes, myself included.

He wasn't treated unfairly, he was given every chance possible and blew it because he didn't take his job seriously enough.

Good for him if he finds a place where it works out. It's what? His 6th NHL team now? It's pretty much now or never for him.

Sounds about right.

For the record, I've always believed in Galchenyuk. He has all the tools to be a force in the NHL. It was obvious at 18, and it's still obvious now.

Just needs to focus on being a professional hockey player.
