The teams 5 on 5 S% shows that your comment that the Flyers lack finishers is another incorrect observation. I agree that the team overpasses and doesn't take shots when they have the opportunity. They also had an issue for a lot of the season in not generating enough shots.
- MJL

But how can finish what you don't start? If you are not shooting, you cannot be considered a finisher. So maybe I agree with you that the skillset is there, but the mentality is not. The Flyers need more shoot-first players to balance the pass-first players they have an abundance of. That is my main point.

This probably means that there is some kind of deal in the works. I'll wait and see if that is true but just looking at that move by itself. Fletcher ought to be tarred and feathered.
- MJL

Hss it not be clear to you and others this coaching staff does not like nor trust Ghost in anyway. So does the GM fire the coaches or get rid of the player?

I have to assume they just wan this contract gone and hope someone bites. If not then we shall see if any deals on the table. Any deals on the table now clearly are to what the flyers will accept.

You mean we have to waive Ghost and he isn’t even worth a mid round pick for a team looking for depth?

That’s wild.. teams just don’t want to take on salary with the flat cap coming.

Honestly, I think you make a trade right now while you’re still in the hunt or don’t even bother. So if there isn’t a trade behind this, it’s a head scratcher.

So if someone claims him, we are back to the play of Gus/Prosser or Hagg.. sounds so much better

Yep, the flat cap and ED are really jamming things up.

But why waive? Is something else happening?

Honestly, I feel like I should give you time to rethink this. I agree with your main point but that doesn't change that your comment that the Flyers don't have finishers is not correct.

Watch Hextall claim him.

I would think with Ekblad going down they may take him?

or the positive side, the Flyers shed 4.5m over the next 3 years of wasted cap space.

I repeat. Get an upgrade on defense by Saturday’s game or don’t bother with any deals. Playoffs could be out of reach within the week.

Leadership is a problem, no doubt but we don't have to move on from Giroux. What has to happen is that Giroux needs to become a complimentary player and the young player have to grow and make it their team. That is the future.
- MJL

Sounds along the lines of the conclusion I’ve come to: the players here next year need to think hard about who the captain should be and it shouldn’t automatically be given to Giroux because of legacy. I think it’s become clear that Couturier is the heart of this team and it’s best defensive forward. He should get strong consideration for a team in real need of a change in either culture or identity.
