We shall see. He still produces. Starts at 5 imo unless he falls off a cliff next season.

Totally agree. $5M per is the absolute floor, unless they do something silly like offer him 6 or 7 years.

I can't think of any player with his statistical resume, tenure, & serves as a Captain that makes less than $5MM AAV. I guess Chara the last few years with Boston. And I fully believe that, as long as his production doesn't fall off a cliff, some other team would be willing to pay him at least $5M. But who really knows with the flat cap
EDIT: Or maybe he's willing to take less than $5M to sign with a team that appears ready to win a cup now.

I see them figuratively switching cap hits (Giroux and Coots). Not exactly mind you, but I see Coots getting 5 years in the 8-9 million range and G getting 4 years in the 5-6 range.

no way is Couturier only taking 5 years. He will get max term. Either here or elsewhere. Clode I agree with.

You need more than lunchpail guys, this Flyers team seriously lacks shoot-first finishers! Look how many shots the Flyers need just to score 1 goal! Look at how much energy they have to expend, shift after shift, just to generate a half decent shot! Look at how average the Flyers PP has been over the past decade for the most part. This Flyers team needs finishers, to me this is the biggest problem with the mix on this team right now, too many pass-first players that don't have a snipers mentality or skillset. That is why I am really hoping Tyson Foerster works out, because then at least you have him and Farabee to build around. If I were Fletcher, this would be my priority in the offseason, signing a veteran winger that has a shoot-first mentality and a good shot.

Bet you wouldn't have guessed that they are top-5 in team SH% at 5V5 right now.

No brainer making the power play so top heavy with our top guns playing on one unit. What took so long?

Bold move benching Farabee. Second on the team in points. Leads the team in goal scoring.

I’m sure many will disagree to make a move at all but if they’re serious about making the playoffs, I think now is the time to pull the trigger on the defenseman. One point behind Boston. Another game against Buffalo tomorrow. Ekholm. Ristolainen. Ryan Ellis. Dallas isn’t so hot, so maybe Oleksiak. I don’t think we can wait anymore.

Giving AV an A for coaching then last period+ and OT. Is something wrong with Voracek physically? As was pointed out he was out of position on the first Sabre goal yesterday and was just standing, then bending in the defensive slot during another Sabre rush....looked very weird.

Kid is scoring, but also been making some costly defensive mistakes lately.

2 weeks away from the trade deadline...

Do the Flyers make a trade?
(Remember making a trade doesn't mean that player(s) is there just to help for this year, best trades are made with the future in mind)

If the Flyers make a trade, will it be minor, major or asset exchange?

Who do you think the Flyers get and who do you want?

Who do the Flyers part ways with and who do you want to part ways with?

Which team makes the biggest splash?

Not sure why anyone cant grasp this concept. It isn't a matter of producing. That isn't the issue. The Holy Trinity you need to move on from; at a minimum 2 of the 3. But hey clode rose to the occasion; again. What a joke.

Because a lot of people are thinking with their hearts, and they want the Flyers to succeed with Giroux. I do as well, but when I post these opinions, I try to put my own feelings aside and put myself in Fletcher's shoes. As a GM, you can't think with your heart, you have to act objectively based on hard evidence. That is why you cannot attach yourself to players, because has Billy Beane stated in Moneyball, you need to be able to cut them lose any time you think its necessary. I love G, but its time to move on and get something for him while he still has good value. I don't love Jake, so I would be happy to move on from him also, but given his contract and recent output, I don't think many teams would take him.

SOG are ramping up now too.

If they can make even a small dent in the amount of goals they give up, this team would be looking at more comfortable margins.

Listening to Fletcher last night, I think he wants to go for it this season and wants to make a significant trade at or before the deadline. However, not many teams that have players Fletcher would target are willing to make deals at this time. So it looks like it will be a very busy off season for the Flyers. That is my read on Fletchers recent statements anyway.

The goalies job is to stop the puck, period. A 10-bell save does not give him a free pass to let one dribble in thru the 5-hole. I'm tired of hearing the same thing "he let a stoppable goal in but made a really good save later on". That is the defintiion of mediocre (at best).

It should be interesting. I don't know if Fletch can swing it, but I expect he is trying g hard.

You talk of putting yourself in Fletcher's shoes. Well with this post you didn't accomplish that. While I certainly can't provide proof and it is most definitely speculation but it is a guarantee that Fletcher intends to and wants to re-sign Claude Giroux to a new contract.

If Giroux can win a cup, he has a chance at a HOF nomination.

What a weird ending as well, the uncertainty of that goal had gone in. I’ve just recently came around to not hating Patrick kane

AV put the vets in a spot where they had to skate or sink. They had no time to overthink what was happening, they had no time to sit back, the vets responded. This to me wasn't about Patrick, Farabee or Lindblom it was about putting the vets in the position that they had to sink or swim. Good on them for responding, even against the Sabres.

I said weeks ago, G, Jake and Coots still need ice time, I know everyone wants to roll 4 lines but the Flyers still need the top 3 fully engaged, in the right mindset that they are still the go to for the Flyers.

I think if he wins it with the Flyers then it could be a good chance if he doesn't fall off a cliff the next 3-4 years. If he wins a cup with another team in more of a supportive role then I don't think he gets a nomination.

Is it good for them on responding or is it an indictment on them for not responding at the opening puck drop. Honestly, the comeback in a purest sense is two points in the standings but big picture. It's an indictment against them.
