Not exactly.

- MJL

I was actually asking you because I didn't totally understand it; if you don't know that's ok. According the cap friendly, the Flyers deadline cap space is $4.2M, compared to the daily cap space of $2.7M. The description of the deadline cap space is the total sum of the cap hit values that the current daily cap hit can be increased by to remain compliant below the cap ceiling at seasons end. So I think this means the Flyers actually have $6.9M in cap space to utilize even before losing Ghost. Thus your statement that the Flyers don't need to waive Ghost in order to get Ekholm or Ellis? I'm just trying to understand your reasoning.

between AV last night going to 3 lines and now this, if they don't have the players full attention they never will.

I believe the second option sadly.

So if someone claims him, we are back to the play of Gus/Prosser or Hagg.. sounds so much better
- Buzzo

If someone claims him its irrelevant because the only reason to do this in the first place is to clear cap space. Clearly Fletcher has a trade in the works

This is likely a reach, but does anyone think this move is a Locker room issue? I have joked with friends over the last year or two that the team hates Ghost and plays better without him, and if i remember correctly we went on our hot streak last year after he went down lol.

IF ghost goes to another team, I can't wait to see the love pour out for him all of a sudden.
- Ftown19125

Ya, posts like "See If Ghost was playing we would have never given up those 7 goals last night!!"

He was an absolute bright spot his rookie year, to many he was this unknown potential superstar the Flyers haven't seen on defense in a long time. Because of that people will never let go and see the reality. The majority of his career has been a trainwreck, whether someone wants to blame injuries, confidence or how the Flyers used him is up to them, but the fact is he was given every opportunity to succeed and never took it.

Could it be simple as timing in hopes someone takes him while there is a need (Florida) but doesn’t mean that is where he will go.

Couple outcomes - remove a contract they don’t want in the future, prevents them having to make a cap move now or in off season. Also allows to send him down if they need cap space should he pass through for the next 30 days.

Either way it opens up opportunities for a GM. Likely passes through IMO

Prosser is not taking up cap space, and Gust has trade value as a deadline rental.
- jd250

Comparing Gus and Ghost this year, I'd say that Ghost has been a much better player. Ghost may struggle sometimes on D, but Gus doesn't even try to play D. I'm still puzzled by it.

Now that Ghost is waived, I guess we can chock this one up as another signing by Hextall; 6 years/$27M. Nice job Hexy!

99% of the time someone claiming how tough they are is a flashing green light to what a big pansy they really are in real life. Take that into account with the troll style and we are looking at a grade A coward

People always bring up Ghost and his 65 point season, which he was paired with Provorov a lot of the season. The next year the pairing stayed for the beginning of the year and throughout at times. Provorov regressed big time in play that year, maybe because it was contract year *shrugs*, but since then every time Provorov and Ghost are paired Provorov's game magically gets worse.
