Upgrading C is going to be a tough one IMO and with so many teams still in the hunt it's hard to see who will sell. I think Soderberg would be a good target if CHI is further out of the race by the deadline. CBJ could be a team to watch as well. They might turn into sellers if they're too far out and Foligno could be an option there.

Out of the teams clearly out at this point there really isn't a bevy of upgrades at C. Obviously there's the Getzlaf dream, but I find that very unlikely. I read recently that he hasn't shown any desire to go play for contender.

But yeah, I think the biggest hurdle is going to be which teams believe they're out of the running with how close things are in all these divisions.

Getzlaf isnt playing like a guy who plans to just let the year pass. He fought again last night and is at least showing signs of life offensively.

He hasn't asked for a trade yet. I think he will and I think the Pens will be high on that list. It really does feel like a perfect match, he won't have any problem fitting in.

I think a scoring RW would be my top priority. RW is weaker in terms of offensive talent. It can help the PP. Rust kills it on the PK. Although with those both quickly rising the ranks that seems to be less of a concern. Or a RW version of McCann who could play centre top would be nice for upcoming injuries.

Depends on whether or not you consider McCann a LW or a C. If he's a LW than yeah RW is weaker, but if he's a C, then RW/LW are about the same IMO?

He might ask for one, but I also wonder what the Pens are willing to offer. Also, if he does ask for one it's not an automatic he comes here. You can bet the Isles would be very aggressive with Lee out.

McCann is really the key to all of this in terms of how they proceed. Whether he stays at LW or C are two totally different approaches. That said, I don't know if they're going to let the market dictate how they approach that or where they prefer McCann.

I've said from the start I think McCann is more effective overall at center and that's where I think he should stay. My concern is his streak will end at the wrong time and then we'll be throwing Geno's line around constantly to find some kind of spark.

I think you gotta go with whatever we can get the easiest between a LW/RW and C. Because for me it doesn't matter where McCann plays.

LW: Guentz/Zuck/ZAR/McCann or trade
RW:Rust/Kap/Tanev/Rod or trade
C:Sid/Geno/Blue/Gaudreau or McCann or trade

Yeah that’s true. I guess flexibility is good with McCann, like 668710 mentioned you get what’s best between the positions and adjust accordingly. Now if we could find a rw McCann that would just be awesome.

Lol I've been telling you that for about 8 months. Agree on the center market being thin though.

Getzlaf would also have control of where he went, so not a straight bidding war.

I'm aware you have and I knew this as well, but this is something I read a week ago, so it has a more recent report. Knowing he has/had no desire doesn't mean he may not have changed his mind. Other players in his position have said the very same things and then they get traded, so I wasn't going take it as law until we got closer.
