I know we love to see 5v5 goal production, but the only right shot forward who is doing damage on the Pens PP is Rust. Adding Brown wouldn't be a bad move in that regard.
His salary and cap hit suck and the Pens would definitely leave him exposed in the expansion draft, so the only real way they get that deal done is if they send a big salary in return. Crap, I could totally see them including Petts and a forward, have LA eat some cap, then make a cheap trade for Merill to fill that bottom LD spot.

Not saying he’s anything special but Merrill would be a better fit with Marino than MM.

As much as Browns numbers are inflated by the Powerplay and a high shooting percentage, people are assuming the Kings are sellers and with 3 games in hand and 5 points behind both The Blues and The Coyotes it’s very possible they make the playoffs and get into a round. His cap hit is high but not an issue for LA this year or next. He has his 2 cups and doesn’t have to chase a 3rd. He’s a lifer for LA and the only way he’s traded is if some teams give LA an offer they can’t refuse which seems ridiculous at this point. He’s not going anywhere

Considering how cheap his contact is, I'd be more than ok with him being brought in if Petts is moved for a forward.

Still wouldn’t intrigue me tbh. Poulin and Legare don’t move the needle much for me. Outside of the elite guys prospects from the Q don’t have a great success rate.

Matheson for Brown it is.

This would be too good to be true, but it was rumoured LA was quite interested in MM before he was traded to pitt. I don’t think Brown would be a terrible option. He’s old and due to regress not being on a top line. But he would help the pp, and therefor help the pk by sending Rust back to it. Adds some edge.

Let's play in the MM for Brown world for a moment lol...

Where does he fit? Does he bump Rust down to Geno or Kap to a "third line?" Does he play that new third line? Does McCann stay with Geno or would the next move be to bring in a center? If MM is used to get Brown, who do they use to get a C and what could they possibly get?

3rd line RW, Zucker on the LW. For now I would go with Rodrigues or Gaudreau centering them. Glendening might also be a fit, but he is very limited offensively. I'd say Haula, but I'm not sure Nashville is going to sell now that they are so close and Chicago is sinking.

Would you target another center if the Pens could make it happen? I wouldn't mind taking a look at Soderberg right now.

A 1st or a LD prospect with high upside would be the main piece of interest.

LA isn’t a contender though and likely misses the playoffs. Selling is the right move for them.

If that's the case, why would CHI? They're tied in the standings.

Trajectory. NSH is heading up and CHI is heading down. In two weeks from now it could be more drastic.

Obviously Chicago would rather have a middle round pick than a player that could help them make the playoffs lol.

Well they’re going to need a RW to replace Mantha so better throw in Sceviour to seal the deal.

I think he can return the 6th against the Rangers right? Isn't it 10 games or 25 days?
