To be fair to the leafs, the media guys like Ferraro have commented on how amazing the goalies have been in the games. It isn't just fans seeing it and the leafs are dominating in shots quite often. - Aaron_85
Shooting percentages have regressed; Matthews missing a wrist didn't help either, as it forced non-shooters (Jumbo, Marner) into shooting roles... like Jumbo in the bumper spot on PP1 doesn't make any sense to me.
Hopefully we start playing Nylander and Tavares line a bit more though; those two around 15 minutes is dumb. |

Or if they aim a bit lower, find a quality bottom 6 winger to take Hyman's place, and move him up with Matthews. - gravyface
This is the way to go. And add defensive depth. We are one injury from Martin Marincin. |

This is bullpoop. There was never a Campbell vs. Andersen disagreement. There was a view that the criticism of Andersen was over the top. Wanting Campbell to succeed dies t change that. There are only a few weird fans who seem to prefer winning their arguments over team success. - Canada Cup
Im not sure why this is so hard for some to understand.

My biggest fear too. For sure we need another D man with some size. I think that Dermott will wear down quickly in the play-offs from heavy forechecking. Game in and game out. Which will lead to some goals against.

It sure seems like the Leafs have faced suddenly-heroic goaltending from every goalie, even Ottawa. I am just reluctant to say that because it seems like absolving the entire team
One thing the Leafs are going to have to try to figure out is how to breakdown teams that collapse everyone around the net. Right now, this is the way to stop them. Columbus showed everyone how. I would like to see more shots and look for greasy goals. They seem to be unable to get away from always wanting to score on a perfect play. - Aetherial
Seems most of the teams are playing this way of late against us. Can't match the offensive pressure of the Leafs, so they try to score early then protect their net. Should be what Simmons is here for. The greasy ones. And get Mikey with his size in there too.

The team has been hitting a lot of posts lately. Matthews taking that slap shot and his wrister that hit the crossbar is giving me hope that his wrist is getting healthier. I think they clocked his one timer at 94 mph last night. |

Those last two against Brossoit were brutal. If I said they were Andersen-esque a few would be butt-hurt. But they certainly fall into the category of sh!tting the bed. - winsix
They were worse than the goals Andersen has been letting in. My God those two goals were awful.
A few friends and I do a Zoom thing and watch hockey on the weekends. One guy is an Oiler fan and another is a Jets fan. There was definite sympathy for the Jets there - but I told him at the start of the game that I was sort of hoping they'd lose so we could have first place to ourselves. Broissoit delivered. |

Excuse me, you said goaltending sympathy for the Jets. I think a self-ban is in order. You decide the length. |

I agree, I was merely coining a new phrase. It's all in good fun, just the same as the new version of Paul Simon's song Fifty ways to Let in a Sofite

Ok, if he’s injured or dead he won’t play for the Leafs again. I don’t think he’s back next year even if he’s alive. If he’s not injured and you don’t want in net again, I’m not sure what to say. - Canada Cup
If he’s not hurt he shares the load with Campbell. If he’s hurt the Leafs make a deal.
Simple as that.
Hoping we’ve seen the last of Hutch as an option. |

We should remember that Hutchinson used to be a Jet, so that may be where he learned his unique goaltending technique of not stopping pucks. |

I think they're trying hard for a top 9 fwd. Looking at how Keefe is using his forwards now shows he's shrinking the group in the 3rd period. I'm sure he'd like at least one more reliable fwd that he can trust in the 3rd.
Hyman gets bumped in the 3rd and the Matthews line plays every minute they can. That won't last long in a playoff run. Last night he benched Mikky and Engvall for most of the 3rd. Simmonds, Thornton and Spezza are used very selectively. He needs more options especially when they're playing with a lead. |

It is but we already have the usual suspects reading Keefe’s “we’re waiting for test results” to mean he’s going on LTIR |

One problem is they have 5 true top 6 guys: AM, MM, JT, Willie and Hyman. I think he sees rotating Hyman into Joe’s spot as needed but that may become untenable. Someone wrote Dubas’ preference is probably a top 6 guy who adds defensive strength (Granlund) but another option is just to go straight offense without really hurting yourself defensively (Hall).
Again, it’s getting tougher to find someone to trade with. |

Im starting to think a defenseman should be the priority. A guy like Ekholm stepping into our pairings and forcing Dermott to 7th D would be massive.
Also starting to feel like we don't need an impact forward as much as some think. You can only add so much horsepower before the focus should be on airbags. 🤷🏻♂️ |

I think they'll get a bit bigger over the next two weeks as the math of making the playoffs takes over.
Right now you've got Detroit, Buffalo, NJ, Ana, SJ, and Ottawa.
Realistically though Calgary, Vancouver, NYR, and LA are extreme long shots.
In 2 weeks you can probably add another team or two.
Not sure what he/we like from that group. Hall, Palmeiri, Iafallo ??? |

I think Ekholm would be a very smart move, not sure Nashville will be selling. At least not yet |

It’s all a bit mysterious though, isn’t it? Freddie has intimated that he’s been plagued with something this season. Mental? Physical? Acute Fiveholeitis?
At this point, who the (frank) knows? Just hope Dubas does and will ensure Hutch is not an option. |
