Go back further... like 10 years. This team has not been consistent for any meaningful amount of time since the cup run. They have struggled to find an identity, and heart. They've had zero passion.

I am a long time fan. Watched both cups in the 70's on my Black and White in my bedroom as a kid. Season ticket holder all through the 80's (moved in early 90's). Saw Pelle's last game, I've seen and endured much as a fan, but I am starting to not give a poop for the 1st time in my life... (A recovering Stepford?)

Sniders ran it like they loved it. Gave the city something to love, and a reason to be proud. Comcast? They just need to beat last Quarterly numbers, so as long as the fans are going, not much matters. That attitude moves down onto the players and it shows every day. They play for money, not love of the game. They are heartless, gutless, p()ssies, plain and simple. Those are not ingredients to succeed at anything, let alone Hockey... Now if we could just find a writer with clout to present our case...hmmm.

- BadCowboyDan
I feel your pain unfortunately. We had season tickets from 1985 thru 2005! Saw some great hockey, but also our share of heart break. Was at game 6 of the Finals in 1987 against the Oil(best game ever attended). First game attended was game 3 against the Habs in the Finals of 1976(maybe I'm the jinx?). I feel exactly like you do. For the first time since I became a fan I really find myself not caring at all. When these players making millions act like they are going through the motions and playing without emotion it is really hard to root for them. This has been going on for waaaaaaay too long. For the record we haven't been to a game since the 2012 series against the Pens. I ain't spending my hard earned cash for this poop.

If were talking just in this upcoming offseason

Hope one of either Jake or JVR is gone.

- Pelle31Forever

I realized it even before but Fletcher's press conference confirmed it. Teams are not looking to take on term. Any trade of either of those players is going to be difficult at best. Especially Voracek. It's possible that you can trade salary for salary but that would require the Flyers taking back a similar player that has fallen out of favor if that's the case. The best case scenario might be hoping that Seattle takes one of them.

Take good hard looks at Myers and Sanheim and see if this is just an anomaly or is this a trend in the wrong direction. If the latter, make a move. I'm sure teams would make good offers. Especially for a 6'5 RH shot in Myers.

- Pelle31Forever

I'm always puzzled by a comment of teams would make a good offer for a 6'5" RH shot. Well why would they make a good offer? I have zero doubt that this is just an anomaly.

Dertimine what you have in Patrick. Do you think his offense will come? If not, again, make a move. Big bodied righty centerman can fetch you something.

- Pelle31Forever

Flyers can definitely trade Patrick. Probably won't be a lot though. Might lose him to expansion.

Maybe look at TK too.

- Pelle31Forever

With the emergence of Farabee, I would look to possibly make a hockey trade with Konecny for a similar young skilled player with a bigger body and more physical. A more of a drive the net, heavy on the forecheck kind of player. Tweak that balance and add more physicality to the team.

Wait... you think someone will give us something for Patrick? I promise you any effort you see, any success he has, is driven by the need for a long term contract. It's only a flash. He was soft to start, he will drop value faster than Jake did after the ink is dry...
NO GM with 1/2 a brain will sign. (or let alone) trade for him...

- BadCowboyDan

That's completely incorrect. Many team would make a decent offer and take a chance on a player like Patrick. As an RFA, he again has zero leverage in contract negotiations.

I think anyone expecting wholesale changes whether they make the playoffs or not is going to disappointed.

whats your version of wholesale changes?

Not a huge fan of Hayes or Konecny on the PP. Rather see Giroux, Coots, Farabee, Voracek and Provorov on PP

Im mostly fine with Patricks play, hes been buzzing. I know he had a bad +/- game last game but I think he's trending up.

This team really needs a game where everything just goes right to get the confidence up.

- xShoot4WarAmpsx

My top PP at this point would be very top heavy.

Giroux, Couturier, Van Riemsdyk, Gostisbehere and probably Farabee who has earned it.

Second unit: Hayes, Konency, Voracek, Provorov and Patrick would be my second, although Laughton might deserve PP time.

True, I've often said to Flyers fans dismay that there would already be a statue up for Crosby if he was wearing a Flyers jersey. I mean, he has 3 Cups and works his ass off every game versus some of the folks wearing orange and black these days. I hate the Pens, but you have to respect what their star players have accomplished. Anyone remember that fateful day when Lavy called Giroux the best player in the world back in 2012?
- Phillywhiteout

I hate the pens as rivals but respect Crosby and cheer for him when he’s representing Canada. He plays the game the right way, and is have 10 Crosby jerseys if he had gone to the flyers.

Very quickly forgotten how much of a wussy and cry baby he was, it was not until around that second cup that he matured

Oh for sure. And I didn’t like how he played the game at that point. But you had to respect that talent. He matured, and I respect his skill and work ethic now.

Someone mentioned it a little while back, the next embarrassing loss will be Monday to Buffalo, ending their umpteenth consecutive game losing streak.
- backfire

I don’t expect them to turn it around and win today, but I sure as hell expect a better effort and ffs some adjustments from the coaches implemented by the players.

For one, can we stop leaving ahmadinejad alone open for one timers on the pp? They seem to ignore him and the fact that he’s blasting away and scoring at will from There. Take it away with positioning , stick in that lane etc. Whatever. Make someone else beat you. Further, lay a hit on him every chance you get throughout the game. It’s been way too easy to the point he is laughing away. I’d staple him to the boards legally and wipe that off at least for a bit. You wanna yuk it up? We notice and we’re going to hit you.

Play like you give a f. Glad moose is in. Keep us in the game By making a few saves early bud and we’ll at least make it Game hopefully. Hart needs practice time and I’d consider giving him both starts vs buffalo. I though about possibly sendi nag him down for conditioning, but perhaps a couple games vs buffalo might help get the confidence back? Sending him down may be just another shot he can’t take right now.

He’s having an epic struggle but the org and fans need to support him though this. Same poop happens to price, maybe not to this extent, but he’s still our guy.

Rant over. Please win I’m getting lambasted by every leafs fan I know right now which is not cool.

Even Crosby himself has admitted that he whined too much when he was younger. People grow up and mature. I hated Gretzky cause he ruined our parties back in the 1980's by thwarting the Flyers in those Cup finals, but you have to tip your cap to excellence as you get older.

Dunno...maybe throw In a firstie... He's a very good player. Seems that there's argument about how good he is on both sides.Funny thinking back to after the team didn't make the playoffs 2019, there was argument about bringing I some veteran D help...some didn't like the Braun and Niskanen signings, you just never know till you try.

I doubt 90% of what I wrote will come to fruition. I just feel it's time to take a deep hard look at what you have.

Out of JVR and Jake I'd rather see JVR stay. Having a good season, Jake is the personality that needs to take a hike

I'm with you for about 90% of it. I would not trade for Ekholm at the trade deadline. While I think it's certainly not the time to fire AV, he certainly has to be held accountable for his share here. This team is not well coached. The coaches have not fixed season long issues. While the players deserve the overwhelming majority of blame, the coaches have their share also.
- MJL

Well thanks MJL, I just don't know how the coaches can even help a team with this years crazy schedule. I believe yesterday was their first real practice for a while. Lets see if there are any substantive changes/improvements,, cause its almost game time

You need to have balance. You need to have two good PP units and not just load up for one. I also wouldn't have Provorov on the PP at all. On this team currently, Gostisbehere on one unit and Gustafsson on the other.
- MJL

I still don't understand Provy on pp. I'd put Ghost with Gs unit as they've had chemistry and Morin with JVR net front. Bombs away. Maybe Sanheim back there too so a 3 forward 2 d set up.

Prior to the season going on pause last year, my son and I went to the March 5th game vs the canes. We sat right against the glass at the zamboni entrance for the warmup. I swear to God, Jake didn't break a sweat during warmups. He did not skate with any speed, just lolly gagging around the ice while everyone else was flying. It looked like his mom, sister with baby were standing in the zamboni entrance. He stopped and waved, blew kisses at the baby etc. There was no focus to get ready for the game what so ever. His effort in warm up mirrors his back checking.

Voracek had probably the best two-way season of his career last year.
