Shooting 18.6% and putting up a measly 1.5 pts/60. That’s, uh, ungood.
I am in the upper tier of Phil fans. Been obsessed with him since the Sochi Olympics. I argued tooth and nail on here that trading him would be a disaster and id rather fire Sullivan. I was super wrong. Phil is bad now. Still love the guy though, he’s just washed. - Victoro311
Its funny because a big reason Hall is getting poop on for not being good is his lack of goals/production this season.....shooting a 2.6% so far...
I dont want Phil again either just wondering if theyre thinking he'd improve the PP....and he prob would |

The tables have turned! I knew it was time for Phil to go, unfortunately the return wasn't what it could have been but we still got POJ.
With a year and a half left on his contract, I'd offer Petterson for Kessel straight up. Kessel gets to go back to picking on teams weaker lines and finishing on the PP.
He is not an outstanding player but he can still fill a role and be a piece to the puzzle on another Cup run.
As a person, the guys all loved him. I think Phil would give it one more shot with these guys. |

Shooting percentage is always super important context. If Hall was having this season and shooting near his average I wouldn’t touch him with a ten foot pole. |

Totally agree...and if he was shooting his career average he'd have another 6 or 7 goals/24ish points in 32 games.

I'd trade Petts + for Hall. The Pens division isn't exactly strong, so I can see the Pens in the Semi-Finals with the right moves
Plus, I wouldn't mind Petts being gon just so we have some free'd up capspace. You can find another "Petts" with 4 Million on the FA market if you had to
Jake Sid Rust
Hall Geno Kap
Zucker McCann ???
ZAR Blueger Tanev
Letang Dumo
Matheson Marino
??? Ceci
Jarry/DeSmith
Might not win a cup, but I think that team could make a run |

I'd do that all day....I think....the thing about Petts is, when he and Marino are a pair, they're both pretty damn good. However, Petts is the one with roughly the same cap hit as half of Hall's... its all moot though because I really believe Buffalo will get a 1st as part of the package. |

Phil has 23 points in 32 games this season.
Don’t really think he’s as bad as people make it out. Having him as the 3RW right now wouldn’t be bad at all. |

I wouldn’t. Matheson and Marino is a dumpster fire. |

Its true...theyre fvcking terrible together. Top 4 is pretty solid with Dumo, Tang, Petts and Marino. |

MM has not been as bad as JJ, but he still brings down any player he’s paired with. |

Poor Rikky, man. F'n MM and his almost 5 mill on the 3rd pair and sh!t when his role is elevated.
MM is better than JJ. Biggest difference is MM's transition and passing game, its much better than JJ's...or at least that's why my eyes say, wouldn't mind someone digging up MM's entry/exit stats...or telling me where to do so. |

MM is prime Jack Johnson without as much physicality. Basically a softer version of Risto. He has physical qualities that make him a fun bottom pairing D man with some PP2 time, but if he’s playing more than 16 minutes a night in a sheltered role you need to reevaluate. We’re overdeploying him right now. |

So far we've used Pettersson to trade for Hall, Getzlaf, Dustin Brown, Rakell, and Staal. |

I don’t think MM is a good passer at all. 8/10 times he tries to skate the puck out of danger and completely misses open outlet passes. That’s what I find the most frustrating about him because he skates by everyone, taking away his options and then loses the puck because everyone had to stop at the blue line to let him gain the zone. |

I think we are scouting Coyotes for Crouse and or Fischer. They have been pushing Fischer up on the depth chart recently to show case him. Idk if Kessel makes a lot of sense. I could see Hextall making a top pick/prospects available for a younger player like Keller or Garland.
I think Hextall and Burke will be looking more so to make deals for bigger players to give our team a different dynamic which is why I believe Crouse, Fischer and Getzlaf will be players they look at for the 4th line. |

That's a good point...let me put it this way, Ive seen him complete passes and make plays you would never ever see JJ accomplish in his Penguins tenure...but yes, MM makes a F load of gaffes, really bad ones, like ones that should of been routine to make, he gaffes. |

I was just looking this up. Both players make the same cash the next two seasons combined, 9 mill total. After that Matheson makes 6.5 mill per season for 3 years. If Pittsburgh is looking at Malkin and Letang extensions they would be open to shedding that salary. - burgh4life87
Catching and wow MM's contract is backloaded? That will make it unbelievably hard to trade. |

If he’s that good why would a playoff team with poor d depth trade him? - Feds91Stammer
That's what I don't get. MM on the 2nd pair was a disaster. Friedman, Riikola, and POJ are all unproven and can't even get in on the 3rd pair. I'd open up the 3rd pair spot for them if possible by ridding ourselves of Matheson, but 2nd pair this late in the season is a huge risk. |
