So I've seen people here saying the Pens have been scouting Zona a fair bit....well...Burkie is a massive Phil Kessel guy. One of the Phil's biggest fans. I wouldn't be surprised if they're considering bringing him back.
- MattStrat

Interesting thought. Burke has to know that him and Sully didn't get along. Tocchet was that nice buffer.

The Pens obviously need to trade from the Defense for offense. I’d definitely find out what Marino is worth to some other teams. Really don’t want to read blogs about how great Taylor Halls fancy stars are while he puts up no real numbers. I’d be fine with Staal for PEtterson but I’d be willing to bet there’s much better offers out there for Staal.
- Grinder47

Staal was just traded to the Habs.

Staal is off the board now but I think your point about looking into Marinos value is interesting. I don't think he is having as bad of a season as some think, he has regressed a bit but I still see him settling in as a Letang replacement in a couple years.

Remember, Letang had a couple of just ok years around Marinos current age and I think he was 24 when he really broke out. Marino is about on the same pace.

Question is, would someone out there make a massive offer for him based on that potential. His contract *could* be an absolute home run. I'd trade anyone for the right price, just not sure what that would be with Marino.

We are better off moving a LD though because if we move LD then we're having Friedman(played LD as a righty) or POJ come in. Just think there's better options at LD to move up then RD. I suppose Friedman could play RD but then you have him or Ceci or Ruhwedal on the second pair and I'm not for that.

We also have Riikola. We do have an abundance of mediocre bottom pair left dmen.

I'm with you and everyone thinking Petterson is the one to go, was just considering the Marino suggestion.

Yea him too. I just think moving Matheson or Pettersson is the better play because if you move Marino then you have to pick between Ceci or Friedman for 2nd pair. Wheres if you move one of those two either one would be playing 2nd pair plus you have the better prospect on the LD side AND Friedman also plays LD. Much better options on the LD side.

Burke has to know Phil has the shortest pants in the NHL.

And Phil is pretty much cooked at even strength. No interest in bringing him back.

He definitely could get a good return, but is it worth it? It would have to be a crazy deal for me to do it.

If you think Matheson gets walked around easily and makes bad mistakes take in 5 games of montour and you’ll be happy with Matheson again hahaha
- pens4life-66

Yeah but Anaheim montour. That’s the one I liked. Anaheim just seemed to have an endless supply of D men.

Damn haha, give him some respect, without him we don't even have those 2 cups. But anyways I agree that Phil isn't Phil anymore.

You're an internet cliche and I'm not surprised. You poop on everyone and everything here. You're likely a nobody in real life and this is your place to feel like a big shot. So please, continue. Tell me I'm dumb. "He sucks" "You're dumb" "They suck" etc...

You described his act to T...It does get old, maybe that is why he is not posting on Detroit's MB, they threw him off... He should spend is time looking for a new job (as he posted in the past that he is bored during the day at work) instead of posting multiple times during the day on how smart he is and everyone else knows nothing...I feel bad for his gf or wife..This a freaking message board. People take it too personal and feel the need to attack if they don't agree with their opinions...I enjoy reading peoples opinions about possible trades they like to see happen and tidbits on players in WBS and not reading how smart someone thinks they are!!!

Agreed. Not to be cliche because I said the same thing with POJ but LA is the team that stands out because of their great young forward depth and lack of young D.

LA has Villardi, Turcotte and Kupari behind Kopitar... at some point they will need to move one of them.

As well as Dolan-Anderson and byfield. Ifallo and kempe are nice wingers too. But I’d imagine any extra centres will shift to wing unless they feel they need D ASAP which prob isn’t the case.

Here's a fun stat for the day, this season, Jeff Skinner has one more point than Trisan Jarry, but Skinner has played in more games and makes a lot more money.

It's ironic that a win for Feds is everyone on the internet realizing what everyone in the real world knows... loser.

Speaking of fishing with dynamite, he should hop on in that bucket with the fish.

Capfriendly has Mark Friedman on IR, they are usually up to date. I thought Friedman has been removed from IR and has been practicing with the team.

If the reports that Phil wanted to leave were true, then it doesn’t really matter if they try. It would be highly unlikely he’d waive to go back to team he wanted to leave.

Marino’s regression is deployment related. He had a rough go at the beginning of the season when pretty much everyone looked bad, but after he got into form he’s only been bad when playing a second pairing role with Matheson. Him and Pettersson together has been business as usual.

Basically the only thing bad I have to say about Marino is that he’s not good enough to elevate Matheson, which, you know, is pretty normal. That may disappoint the people who thought he was the heir apparent to the 1D slot, but I don’t think anyone serious was thinking he was a top pairing guy.

I was referring to his internet troll life, more of a theoretical statement. I hope everyone on here has a happy and fulfilling "real life".

Shooting 18.6% and putting up a measly 1.5 pts/60. That’s, uh, ungood.

I am in the upper tier of Phil fans. Been obsessed with him since the Sochi Olympics. I argued tooth and nail on here that trading him would be a disaster and id rather fire Sullivan. I was super wrong. Phil is bad now. Still love the guy though, he’s just washed.
