Most deadline trades are rentals so that’s not a huge deal. The shorter condensed season and flat cap hurt the most.

Not much beyond teams are keeping their protection lists in mind. Seems the biggest impact is on defensemen like Ekholm. Teams are weighing not only what they have to trade for him, but who they then expose in expansion, and it's hindering his market. I'd assume that applies to other players.

For the people who want to trade Pettersson, I think it would be smarter to just go for a different defenseman rather than get a forward and trust who knows who to play second pair.

Or just keep Pettersson for now because he's fine.

I really wanted a split with the Isles on these two...so another win would be just gravy. I think the Isles are going to be extra determined to win this one this eve. We'll see what happens.
