I miss the old days when the argument was "Crosby can't be the MVP of own team when he has another top 5 player playing with him"

Now McDavid just dishes to Draisaitl and wins while barely being relevant for a cup

- Yonk1216

Lol those days were never a thing.

Zucker back in practice in a regular jersey. Playing with McCann.

Zucker is taking part in line rushes, which is a great sign. Here is the Pens' workflow...

Guentzel-Crosby-Rust
Zucker-McCann-Rodrigues
Aston-Reese-Gaudreau-Lafferty
Sceviour-Jankowski-Zohorna
Angello rotated in on the fourth line.

The D pairs remained the same.

This was way shorter of a layoff than I was expecting.

Way shorter than anyone was expecting. That second line is interesting because that really could be another 3rd line. Not that I have much hope for ERod to sustain what he's doing, but a Zucker-McCann tandem could be the building block of a solid line.

Pretty shocking. Looked like he had a broken leg or ankle.

That looks potentially good if they can fill that trade spot. Be interesting to see what type of chemistry Zucker and McCann have.

I think it's still possible they can't reel in that big a fish. At that point, might want to see more of McCann next to Malkin since Sully won't put Guentzel there and Zucker with Crosby.

A 3C is going to be harder to come by IMO, so I'd personally rather keep McCann at that position, but there's plenty of ways to compose this lineup and it's possible the Pens don't need a big fish. If Zucker and McCann show chemistry, going after Bobby Ryan could be a good fit there.

Zucker-McCann-Ryan

Just not sure what LW targets could be attainable.

What's funny is I was thinking of Ryan with Malkin and leaving E Rod on that third line. McCann and Zucker are so quick I'm not sure Ryan has the wheels to compliment them. The way Malkin slows the game down would be a better fit for Ryan IMO. But who knows. They might get a guy like Glendening to play center and move McCann back up to Malkin's wing.

I'm not sure what 2LW or 3C targets are obtainable.

I'll guess what actually happens is Zucker goes back with Malkin, Blueger's line remains the 3rd line, and they try to find sone value pick-ups to play with McCann on the 4th line.

When you're dressing a wounded lineup like the Pens there's only one stat that matters and right now they're winning that stat. Not sure how next game will look, but I'm going to enjoy the (frank) out the fact they're doing this right now.

EDIT: The Pens are actually winning the fancies right now.

- Rinosaur

There is only one stat that matters all the time. Pens won it last night. Maybe blocked shots too but I’ll just take winning the goals scored differential

I'm interested to see how Zucker plays the next few games. I felt him Malkin and Kap were going to be a dangerous line. Zucker really hasn't really clicked with Malkin yet. I'm hoping him and McCann, or him and ERod could gain some Chemistry while Malkin is out. Pending on how he plays, I wonder if he could be a 1-1 trade candidate if he shows he still isn't clicking with anyone.
