Im not sure I would either but its just funny how things change from last year when he wasnt worth much. Personally if he gets traded its in the offseason in a package for a C upgrade. Theyll use these years as leverage to try to up sell him. - aecliptic
Been preaching it for a while. It would be silly to move on from Strome until there's a better option available to be his replacement. Even if we scoop up a prospect that projects to be our 2c of the future, it's going to take time. Only way they move on from Strome is if they make a splash and seriously upgrade, which is totally possible. |

Especially since Chytill and Howden are struggling at the center spot. We would be going into next year with maybe only Zib |

I havent seen him play but Barron has 7g 3a in 12gp. So we might have something here. |

I dont think so. The Rangers window will open in 2-3 years. As we have seen with our forward group develop, we dont trade a top defense man for picks that will not be ready for another 4-6 years. If we trade any of our top D prospects, it has to be for a center of the same caliber. - Brukie
I am advocating trading one of our surplus D ( not Miller ) to get a young center to address the hole we have in the middle... |

Just because their not the top of the heap like Nils and Schneider, doesn't make Zac Jones, Matthew Robertson, and Tarmo prospects teams won't want. I think those guys could be included in a package to get the coveted C.
Think about when we traded Mac to TB. Hajek was the player we ended up with, Sergachev was their top D prospect at the time.
Another player who should be included in that "really good prospect, but just below the top" is Pajuniemi. As a RW, it's going to be really tough to crack the big club roster. He's killing it in Finland's pro league. Needs to be signed though. |

The problem is packaging a bunch of B/C+ prospects wont get you an A prospect. Quantity trades rarely ever pony up. Were gonna have to give up a A-/B+ prospect to get that A prospect. |

You're proving my point
Those guys I listed, especially Zac Jones and Matthew Robertson, are most definitely A-/B+ prospects. They're not viewed that way by Ranger fans because A)We naturally undervalue our own players and B)Have legit A+ prospects ahead of them. |

I wasnt saying they werent. Zac Jones is definitely our next tier A prospect most likely. Robertson I dont know much about to say where Id rank him. |

What I'm getting at is we can have our cake and eat it too. It's possible to retain Nils and Schneider AND put together a package of great prospects to trade for a C prospect, if the front office chooses to go that route. It's not so black-and-white that we'd have to part ways with Nils/Schneider to make a trade for a C happen.
Our pool is deep enough. Something Gorton deserves credit for. |

That would work, some of our 1A/1B prospects might never crack the lineup anyway. |

You know what it takes for the refs to call a penalty on the Caps. |
