yeah, i'd say so
seems like next year the most likely scenario on blue line is
Lindgren-Fox
Miller-Trouba
Reunanen/Hajek-Lundkvist
with Brendan Smith signed short term, and Smith can play either left or right sides without a problem - jimbo83
Play Smith as a forward again to add grit. Better option than Lemiuex ever was. |

Just saw that Zegras was dropped to the Ducks taxi squad. If there was one rookie who I expected to come in and crush it, it was him. Just goes to show how tough this season is for young players and what Kakko and Laf are dealing with. They must see him playing as a detriment to his development, otherwise they would likely let him work through it. - TC88

Kupari played 3 games in the NHL and scored 0 points. They should cut him. |

Whos the dman we expose? Bitetto? Would he have gotten enough games in to be eligible? - aecliptic
I don't think so. He needed 19 before the season started. Pretty sure he's only around half way there. |

I think everyone is shocked at the speed at which the defense has progressed. Jacques Martin might actually be a defense whisperer. - aecliptic
Was he hiding outside Fox and Lindgren's window last year? |

22 games left, 7 before the trade deadline. If we don't go 5-2 with some help we're going to be out of it. At that time I can see a Buch trade if we're out of it and then going young for the rest of the way. I was hard on Buch but he's been solid this year especially the last month or so but business wise I'm not sure how we keep him if we can get a haul for him with all of our log jam on the wings.

I would wait till the offseason to trade Buch. The reason you trade him is to try to get back an impact center. That won't happen at the deadline, contending teams aren't giving away good pieces and cap space is limited. Buch makes sense as a offseason trade if they are going to do it. Opens up the possibility to move him to more teams as well. |

I agree all major trades will happen in the off season. Any trades we make now, at the deadline, will be small. |

Only possible trades we do if we decide to sell are Blackwell and Smith. Would be pretty awesome to sign Blackwell for nothing and get maybe a 4th back for him |

Its less likely but I could see a team wanting a rental on the cheap possibly making a push for Strome. Imagine being offered a 1st round pick for Strome? |

I don't think I'd take it.
I freely admit that I don't know a lot about the trade market, or how to be a GM. But, if we get rid of one of our two proven, effective centers how are we planning to contend next year? |

yeah, it's kind of like a team playing us right now and a fan of theirs saying "you know, we should trade for K'Andre Miller, I like him" - jimbo83
Sure, but if a team comes calling for Miller and their opening offer is a combo of 3 first round picks and players you at least have to listen, no? |

Im not sure I would either but its just funny how things change from last year when he wasnt worth much. Personally if he gets traded its in the offseason in a package for a C upgrade. Theyll use these years as leverage to try to up sell him. |

I dont think so. The Rangers window will open in 2-3 years. As we have seen with our forward group develop, we dont trade a top defense man for picks that will not be ready for another 4-6 years. If we trade any of our top D prospects, it has to be for a center of the same caliber. |
