I am kind of hoping Blackwell is generating some trade interest before the deadline. He’s so cheap and can play. Maybe a contender anticipating a long playoff run would like to add him for depth.

The problem with him is that he’s in the way of these young right wingers.

And he works really hard, so when it’s a game yesterday where everybody is sleeping for 2 periods, it’s too tempting for the coaching staff to keep throwing him out there.

Im very much hoping the Rangers hold onto Blackwell, hes a “fabric guy” you need for the playoffs which outside of Rooney, Blackwell and Lindgren we have none of.

Rooney and Blackwell are signed into next year. Trading for Kupari kind of takes the edge off of going after a top flight center which means theres no urgency to trade Strome. Which leaves no room at C for Barron. Dont get me wrong, Ive been touting the kid since last year and I want to see him play. However, I dont expect it to happen until mid to late of next year, possibly after the deadline when rosters expand.

I know for a fact that Los Angeles is looking for a dynamic young defenseman

if they trade one of their young forwards that's what they are looking for

they are totally stacked, their AHL team is absolutely loaded, scoring like 8 goals a game

this is also the very reason there could be some trade interest in him though

that play yesterday where Kakko passed it to Chytil and it was a total flub job may have broke me
- jimbo83

Just on Lafs goal alone when Rooney was at center, he made a simple pass to Gautier entering the zone. Chytil likes to skate right at the defenceman and try to beat him one on one instead of passing to the open man.

IDK enough about Kupari's game --- is he worth trading Nils straight up?

I think Kings would have to add a piece

but, man, trading Lundkvist, the kid is setting records in Sweden right now for a player his age

next year, it just seems to be the perfect fit to go behind Fox and Trouba on the right side

I think with where we all view our window being in the next few years we would rather move Reunanen and see what we have with Lundkvist.

Good to see Schneider is averaging a point per game back in Juniors, but if we don't move one of these good D prospects for a C within a few years we're going to have the same log jam at D that we currently have on the wings.

Reunanen doesn't even have remotely the trade value Lundkvist has though

Lundkvist is such a blue chip prospect he really can be used to solve a problem

Reunanen is still just a developing prospect, looks pretty decent though

I dont know too much about Kupari myself other than what Ive read about him and being a near PPG player in the AHL. Word is he has very slick hands and excellent vision.

yeah, and then I think the overall idea of him being a young Finnish center to pair with Kakko is a good one

We cant constantly sweat our prospects. We have to give someone up.

I mentioned this before, look at what happened with Nashville as they developed and ended up with essentially 5 all-star defensemen. Its not sustainable especially when we have huge needs.

Sadly were stuck with Trouba on RD until 2024 when I think his buyout will make financial and future sense.

Youre playing these guys out of their positions. Personally, given time to mesh, the lines I think that would work best:

LAF, Zib, Kakko - Take the handcuffs off LAF and let him be the playmaker he is. With Zib I feel like the 2 of them could really find even ground. Kakko will complement them with his ability to use his size to sustain possession and get to the front of the net.
Panarin, Strome, Kravtsov - Kravtsov is a sniper. Panarin is a playmaker dying to have a live stick to pass to. Strome will go along for the ride and keep feeding them the puck.
Kreider, Rooney, Buch (Blackwell) - This is your line that will give you speed, that will grind, that will harass the net... and theyll win a few faceoffs while theyre at it.

PP1 - LAF, Zib, Kakko, Panarin, Fox
PP2 - Kreider, Strome, Kravtsov, Buch (Trouba), Miller

Sorry, Chytil isnt in the plans for me on this team. Sure he started the year looking like he has mad improvements, but it looks like the real Chytil has stood up.

Furthermore, I dont think this is a sustainable team, Buch will likely get traded, and as such I like Blackwell on the third line. Trouba and Miller would be the PP2 pair.

- aecliptic

Agreed. Chytil just doesn't seem to be able to keep the puck when any pressure is put on him. NOT tough on the puck. Good in open space, but not near the blue line when entering the O zone and not good in the corners. Maybe give him a shot on LW, but I see him being part of a trade.

I dont see any need for the Kings to want Chytil

I think the Kings would probably counter with K'Andre Miller for Kupari

No way in hell NYR is trading him before he plays in the NHL. Lundkvist, Miller, Fox, Jones are not guys you trade. They can be top 4 dmen for the next 10+ years.
