If nothing else changes, I think the Lemieux trade pretty much guarantees Howden is going to Seattle

I don’t think anyone in their right mind would take Howden over Gauthier

The trade of Lemieux means the Rangers can protect Gauthier, so Howden or D'Angelo become the likely pick by Seattle...

Not sure how I feel about this trade.

4th round pick is underwhelming. Rangers skill players will miss the limited protection that Lemieux afforded them. We need MORE grit on this roster, not less!

The trade does help alleviate our log-jam at wing, so it may open a spot for Barron and/or Kravtsov and save a couple of $$$ for our cap. I also am curious how this will affect who we protect for the Expansion Draft.

IDK, I am torn on this one...

I agree that this team needs a little more toughness in the lineup. Not really going to lose sleep over it though. Lemieux hasn’t been very good this season.

They have to gamble on Deangelo and I think the gamble will pay off big time for them. They’re getting a 2nd pair 60 pt defenseman that can run their PP.

I will lose zero sleep over losing the seed of Claude Lemieux. Surprised he went first, but he brought little, IMO. As others stated, we have toughness in Lindgren, Trouba and Smith and one of them is on the ice almost constantly.
I bet not too many will want a piece of K'Andre in a few years when he tops out around 240, either.

So we want Trouba or Lindgren in the box anytime someone has to stand up for guys on the team? I think Lemeuix was a good 4th liner and his toughness will be missed.

Exactly. Nobody on the other team was worried about Lemieux and his toughness. The guy is a plug that was picked in the first round for his power forward potential thats never gonna pan out. This solves some of the logjam at forward.

Lemieux was going to be a regular healthy scratch moving forward, having his 1.5 mil cap hit made no sense

he wasn't going to play anymore

and you can't clamor continually for Morgan Barron to be called up and then complain when they start clearing room, and I am talking about next year as much as this year

now we have two 3rd round picks and three 4th round picks

they'll be able to get back into the 2nd round with that kind of draft capital

How often do you think this would happen?
It's not like either of them would suddenly be taking 6-8 more min. a night.
Plus, that would still leave Fox, Miller and either on of those you mentioned to kill it off. Soon to be aided by Reunanen and Nils.
I'm OK with it.

Lemieux isnt fighting anyone while wearing street clothes

well I remember Fotiu doing it in Los Angeles once, but he wasn't taking 1.5 mil of the cap

My Sunday morning hockey jersey.
Some of the younger guys asked, "Is that a Kitchener Rangers jersey?"

I liked him, he spouted off to much at the refs and they were merciless calling penalties against him. I thought he would have a bit more scoring ability after scoring 12 between Peg and the Rangers, that never showed. There was no sense in keeping him to ride pine.

That might have been nice!
We got the Maloney's, but some of those others could have made a difference.

got about 31 million in space this summer at this point and that's including Tony D on the team, so really its about 34-35 mil in cap space

gonna be interesting to see how they play this, how much money they give to Buch and Shesty
