Yea with our busted lineup, there's potential for some bad things to happen.

Glad the first 2 are against nyi. If we get spanked by anyone I’d rather it be them than Washington or Boston. But it really seems like we are finding out who are the 4 playoff teams now in the metro.

Rangers are clawing into it. But I doubt they get all the way in.

Famous last words. Rangers have two games at hand on the Penguins. A three or four game losing streak while the Rangers go on a run changes everything.

Over the next 13 games the Rangers play Philly, BUF x2 and NJD x4. This can get ugly really quick for the Pens if they slide because of these injuries.

They def seem to be way more of a threat than Philly haha. Def not a guarantee that Pitt still makes it but 4 teams are starting to separate from the pack. Fortunately we do have a 10 point cushion. This next week or 2 could be damning.

Since I love playing armchair gm, I would like to see us trade for Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry. We would be able to run the following lines:
Guentzel Crosby Rust
McCann Malkin Kapanen
Zucker Getzlaf Perry
Aston-Reese Blueger Tanev
This would be a formidable lineup. Our third line would have scoring and grit, along with proven playoff performers. Our 4th line would be a shutdown line with a scoring touch. I liked how the Malkin line was playing before the recent injuries. Salary could be doable due to our injuries. Perry is on a very team friendly deal.

After the Isles, Pens play eight of nine on the road. Could be some lean times coming.

Could be, we'll see, I think there's a good chance of that...but the beauty of sports is you just don't know for sure what will happen.

I am confused why there seems to be a consensus here that the Pens need to bring-in fringe level talent. While Getzlaf and Perry were key contributors 5 years ago, they have been in steep decline for a long time and neither would dress for a competitive team. None of the teams with the Cup window open are interested in these players, yet I fear Burke may desire them. Were I a die-hard Pens fans I would be concerned that Burke might waste the few remaining prospects on such sub-median talent. The upcoming rebuild will likely be long and painful and it would be foolish to trade prospects for spare parts.

I would love that lineup. That looks like a forward group good enough to win a cup. I have no idea why we completely overlooked Perry but he is making about the same as Jank. Zuck-Getz-Perry could be a dominant 3rd line. Same could be said for the 4th line.

Only problem is that Montreal isn't trading Perry.

Why would you be concerned when he said our best prospects are off the table.(Which I think is dumb) And our best prospects, if not playing next year really arent going to help the Pens anyways. Bottom line is were gonna suck once all the big boys are gone. Poulin and Legare aren't gonna run the show for us. They would just be going through a rebuild. But if they can play next season then they definitely can help. If you can get a forward with term then I'm ok with moving Legare and Poulin. But not a rental.

Yeah if this were 2016. Corey Perry has been a fourth line caliber player at even strength for like three years.

A)Habs aren't trading Perry.
B)You really would want 2 35 year old plus guys on one line?
C)I'm ok with Getzlaf as 3c

He is putting up .5 PPG, has size and physicality and can get in opponents heads. He is actually exactly what the Pens could use more of right now.

Montreal isn't going to trade him but if they drop off a cliff and do, I'd love to get him.

He’s putting up 1.5 pts/60 5v5 (bottom six rate), shooting on a very unsustainable 18.2%, and his relative to teammates numbers absolutely suck. 4 of his 12 points have come on the PP. In his past two seasons Perry has put up 1.2 and 0.9 pts/60 at 5v5 which are 4th liner and non-NHL rates respectively, so it stands to reason that the decline of Perry is very real and his good season to date is being held up by his shooting percentage. That will probably equalize at some point and when it does he’ll become utterly useless.

If there’s no way Montreal will trade him, I say good for them. Let them keep him.
