Gaudreau is in his prime, and the team is a piece or two away from being in contention. Another consistent goal scorer in their top six and everything's different.

Gaudreau is their best player and there's almost no way trading him makes them better. Makes sense to throw a tantrum if they sign him long-term.

I'm of the opinion that he at least explores free agency and that it would behoove Treliving to at least assess his trade value now if he hasn't already. In terms of pure assets, think he holds the most value to other teams (particularly eastern teams) now.

Have been in a hot debate with a guy around Adam Fox's value - my argument being that his value to Calgary was lessened by his very obvious preference to play for the Rangers and only the Rangers. The Hurricanes got a couple of 2nd rounders out of them for him, and I think the potential net benefit of holding him out of the Lindholm/Hanifin deal was maybe 1 2nd rounder coming our way. Not nothing, but I think had he either had a contract with the Flames or had his preference not been so obvious, they could have received a lot more value for the guy.

Flames need to get something done one way or another before Johnny's team starts making preferences known (if not to play for the Flames).

People gotta get past this Fox thing. Lindholm & Hanifin were both 5th overalls under 23. To get two players like that you had to give & Fox refusing Carolina hurt them. 2nd round picks are nice but I think Carolina thought the kid would sgn with them. Adding him th that deal with Ferland & Hamilton(gotta give to get) was a rock solid trade. Imagine what it would have cost to get a 5th over all pick last year or the yer before.

Yeah I agree with everything you said. It's good to get some assets and also to call up some young guys to see what we have in them.

Win some damn games ffs, the Canucks need to finish lower than you guys in the standings.

One of the things I think this team sorely misses is the energy that rookies bring. Get some of the young guys that have something to prove to play.

Oh I think he'll resurface once we get 99% mathematically eliminated & then we go on a winning streak & beat everyone. Thats what we've seen the Flames do once expectation & pressure is lifted off of us & they also successfully fck up our draft position. Been there seen that so many times.

I’ve been a Flames fan since 1980, had season tickets the first 5 years til I moved back to BC. I have friends that I only hear from when the Flames lose to the Canucks. It’s been a long road but no matter what, I’ll keep hoping!
