Murphy makes some really nice plays and then that last shift, woof, but he's played for the most part a nice game |

I'll tell you what. Big Z throws game and series altering hits. His hits leave marks. Like Bickell's. - mohel
I'm glad it wasn't a stupid need to hit, like he had been doing that took him out of plays. When he commits to defense & makes those kind of hits, he's a useful d man. |

Offset by a really stupid slashing penalty just a few seconds before. |

That hit has taken some starch out of the Panthers. So far. |

Yeah, we talked about that a page ago. I know you're late to the party, Sage, so I won't hold it against you. |

To my untrained eye, the forwards played an excellent defensive game. |

Some nice board battles & tie-ups & a crap ton of shot blocks. Not good passes to start & some bad penalties, but I'd say an awesome team effort. Nice pk's too. That fight & Z's hits swung the momentum.
Oh yeah, a 2nd shutout by that bum. |

Great puck support by the forwards, in the 3rd period it was nice to see Boqvist get the puck out of the zone and almost think to himself wait we're winning so he skates back into the defensive zone just to in case the forwards turned the puck over. |

He does, but he had a nice game, did you see how he blocked that shot on the pk vs Ekblad? I thought he wasn't supposed to do that, they are suppose to protect against the pass? What a concept |

Teams obviously can win even when badly outshot. It does make you ask, was the other team controlling play. Lots of Pp opportunity? Or lot of poor quality shots render sog advantage meaningless. And one team can come alive or snooze through parts of a game |

This was one of those games where you might mention - correctly - that the Hawks were outplayed in a win. I agree for the first two periods. But the 3rd was a very good close out period. And Big Z stopped their momentum dead. |

The stats and zone time clearly favored the Cats, but much of what Florida accomplished was from the outside - your are correct, the forwards had excellent support, all five skaters protecting Lankinen, not many bang-bang rebounds for the Panthers.
If Colliton can somehow teach them how to complete passes.... |

Add that the Hawks blocked 22 shot attempts - 8 by Murphy. |

That is impressive, especially with all the youngsters. I know that we are short handed as well, and I don’t want to take anything away from the Hawks and especially Lanks, but boy do the Panthers miss Barkov. |

Glad to see Hagel's hustle rewarded with his ENG. Did you notice after he shot the puck from center ice he started skating hard toward the Florida end of the ice in case the shot missed.
These last two wins will make Stan's decision to become a seller more difficult. |
