Moderate segue - re: the UFA's/RFA's - I would think that the only real discussions that need to be had are on Nylander, Janmark and Maybe Carlsson.
I don't really know what Carlsson is. If I had to handicap it, I would say they would like to keep him around, but I'm not really sure where anyone thinks he stands.
Again, I would assume that they want to give Nylander at least one more year, but do they think he can keep up with the new guys this year?
Janmark is just a solid contributor, but is he considered good enough to keep around (at this point in time)? - Chunk
When you consider Carlsson, I believe the following points should be weighed:
Bowman knows what he has in Carlsson. Could he be someone whom is viewed as a great value at a great bargain prjce.....and is being sort of in limbo this season because they will try to not protect him. The hope is Kraken do not feel secure in their evaluation of Carlsson, so pass on him
Carlsson has played two seasons AHL. He has made progress. He is apparently not as good a skater as I once hoped he was. Plays both sides on defense and I suggest maybe a bit better than many Blackhawk prospects whom also have experience playing both sides.
Carlsson will use muscle to break up a play, to make a hit, but as far as I know dies not get caught out of position. He can and does carry the puck up ice reliably although it is not a strength, but he is capable. His good shot has resulted in Pp goals the past two seasons.
Nobody ever said Carlsson was going to be a star. He seems like he could compliment some of our offensive dmen prospects. In fact he did play with Boqvist at some past time in Sweden
Whom else do we have close to NHL ready who hits. Whom does a lot of things well, although not great.
I would like our Icehogs reviewer Theo to come out and say wbether Kalynuk and Carlsson should get playing time and could nail down a job next season. I am not going to debate whatever he says. Theo has watched Carlsson a lot. Kalynuk less but Kalynuk intrigues. I know Kalynuk should get stronger but he is not a weakling. He is smart and reportedly pretty descent in most aspects. How well might Kalynuk play defense in the NHL, Theo |

I haven't seen him play yet but reports regarding Isaac Phillips have been very positive and he is a bigun, too. - Elbows15
Agree, Phillips is another one to watch in the D pipeline. Good size and strength. Plays physical and loves to activate on offense.
His primary areas of growth are being smarter about his activation and just growing within his body. He's still a teenager so he will fill out and know how to leverage his reach and muscles appropriately on defense.
When dressed for the same games, Phillips and Moberg have been the steadiest D pair in Rockford actually. |

On Carlsson, his ceiling is likely as a 3rd pair defender. Defense first with ability to transition the puck. He hasn't played physical with the Hawks but does so when with the Hogs. Hope that's just a confidence thing.
On Nylander, your assessment is spot on. He likely gets re-signed for at least a year but the standard he needs to meet now has been set with this year's newbies (rookies + free agents like Janmark).
On Janmark, my gut thinks he gets traded then Bowman attempts to re-sign him this summer. But if his salary demands are too high, Bowman should simply move on. |

Seems the Hawks have decided Strome is not as good a center as Carpenter or Soderberg. Telling.

Why he’s a UFA. We can sign him in the off-season for 8 years for $88M. |

For all the work they've reportedly done to improve paying getting out of their own end... they really are having a time of it tonight. |

I guess they figure they can call a penalty on Florida almost all game based on what I'm watching |

After your comment the other day LA, i counted 3 pucks that made it within 2 feet of the blue line while we had possession at even strength and they couldn't get it out. |

Frustrating, especially when they can just chip it off the boards instead of trying for the hope play.
