I can't see FA saying he can't trade pending UFA's or deadweight contracts. I'd surmise he's being told he can't bring in new money or maybe make trades involving core players.

this may come out of left field, but I think Nate Schmidt has been the best overall D-man on the Canucks this year. Has he contributed the same way Hughes has, absolutely not, but I think defensively he has been much better, and much better defensively than every other Dman who has played.

Brough and Halford who I have only listened to twice, are much better than Walker is. Not sure why they thought a Toronto guy like Walker would be a good fit here in Vancouver.

Walker is/was a bit of the Shock Jock type - not quite Howard Stern - but he says stuff to elicit an emotional response. I don’t mind him, though he was always a bit too positive for my liking.

Schmidt is meant to be an upgrade on Tanev. He's been good, we've missed tanevs defensive ability with hughes. Hughes best partner this year has been Hamonic, a poor man's Tanev. I think the biggest issue is Myers taking on so many minutes, he simply can't handle big time lines/players. Need an upgrade on the roght side, maybe pay Seattle to take Myers. I'd like Hamonic back around his current price. Myers is simply very overpaid, i think you could pay less for better, or go hard at Ellis.
