I think the Hank we all know and loved died in that Ottawa playoff series in 2017

arguably best player in Ranger history, and most durable too, from 2005-2017

- jimbro83

Might have been the most brutal series I ever witnessed. Also that trip to the Conference finals against TB had me reeling a bit.

I was always a defender of Hank but not having him this season made me truly realize how spoiled we all were to have him. I know his play slipped a little but I've never been this uneasy about what kind of goaltending we are going to see each night. Shesty needs to even out.
- JRR1285

Yep. He was so good, for so long that none of use had to even think about goal tending issues. He was the master of preparation. And here is hoping Shesty with some experience does even out and becomes a consistent force in net.
It is crazy to think, Hank had 30+ wins in his first 7 Seasons in the NHL. And that 2012-13 season was only because of injury.

Literally, more than 10 years of, "Oh, they have a breakaway! No big deal." That is not even an exaggeration!

Basically Georgiev and Kinkaid at their best was Hank at his worst the last few years. He really was the most sound and focused goalie from a technical perspective.

in 2012 I remember clamoring for them to add one more piece at the deadline, I just knew they needed another piece, I wanted them to trade their first rounder that they eventually used on Skjei

I just thought that defense was beat up from all the blocked shots all year and needed another body

Lundqvist was just incredible that year and Del Zotto single handidly cost them that series vs the Devils

Yea, I know a clench up in the wrong spots when I see a break away forming. Knowing the odds are high the puck will be in the net. Depressing. But hopefully will get better?

Our third pair did kinda stink that year. We really did need an extra body back there. I still maintain that team was probably better than our 2014 team, but everyone on this board knows I'm a huge Gaborik mark.

and then they went up 2 games to 1 on the Devils on the back of two Henrik shutouts

that Henrique overtime goal is such a piece of crap

Considering how crap he is on the Ducks, it still feels like that was the only highlight of his career

Never forget that.
I was at my Devil buddy's house watching the game with more Devil fans on his 5' TV. Henrique scored, I put down my beer and drove home without saying goodbye.
