Limiting it to one shortened season seems like an odd choice of an argument. Expand it over a couple seasons and you'll see that Simon is superior.

Im talking about now. Not 3 seasons ago when his underlyings would inflate that sh!t.

Just because CGY isn't a fit for him doesn't mean anything. Simon, aside from his lack of finishing, killed it here. He drove offense at a much higher level than ERod not to mention he was far better defensively.

And he was junk with Sid, plus, Simon performed well away from Sid.

I'd trade him for Jankowski in a heartbeat.

If you were blindfolded to who made up that line for 5.5 games and just looked at the underlying stats and were asked would you keep this line together all season you wouldnt hesitate to say yes.

Just give them Janko back for Simon and it's a good deal for both sides.

Nope. I don't look simply at the underlying. The eye test on ERod is enough. He clearly can't keep up on Sid's line. You also don't need fancy stats to see that Simon's skill with the puck is far superior to ERod.

Yeah I feel like judging on Erod's 17 games on PIT vs. Simon's 9 games on CGY is a bit disingenuous.

I think a better barometer would be looking at last season at the very least.

I'd rather have Simon all day.

But the argument is definitely moot since it's the Burky/Hextall show now. I don't see them reacquiring old Pens players at all. They're going to look for sandpaper, I feel like that much is fact.

Yeah, with Simon getting double the minutes those stats arnt that far off. Pretty similar, with Erods being a tiny bit better defensively and Simons being a tiny bit better on the offense.

They would help the 4th line but don’t fit the apparent criteria hexy and Burke are looking for. Don’t think the top 2 are worth there contract IMO

People always seem to forget (I think it’s media, fan and “tough guy take no shiit” perception driven) Burke and especially Hextall really love there skilled players. Burke was and still is crazy for the sedins as players and well I think they totalled 0 fights in 34 combined seasons...
