I'd absolutely love to get Getz, and even though he'd be a rental, you gotta think one of the pieces the Ducks will want in return is a 1st overall pick...I wouldn't mind giving that up...if they Pens had one this draft, that is.
- MattStrat

You think they'll get a 1st for Getz? I don't think they will.

I think they'll try...and maybe get it. I just look at big name rentals in other years and theres usually a 1st going the other way. I guess though, he is 35, and not producing at a high clip anymore..if he joined Pens today he'd only be their 9th or 10th highest scorer. So now that we've had this chat I'm not quite as convinced he'd fetch a 1st hahah...still think they'll try for that though.

Picked up Gustavsson on Tuesday in our Yahoo pool that counts 5 goalie stats and he paid immediate dividends last night.

I feel like there has to be some sense of irony that the Sens trade for Murray, but now another former Penguins product is shoving him out of his spot.

I think Jarry deserves some serious credit here. He had an abysmal start. He was one of the lowest ranked goalies in the league. I think he had like the third or fourth worst GSAA and SV%. Now? He's in the top half of the league in GSAA. Still more towards the middle, but when you filter out TOI, he's more towards the top half.

He had an .859% in January and now is at a .909%. While .909 may not be high, the numbers he had to pot up to get there is impressive. I'm not saying he's a top goalie, but he's now exactly what the Pens need him to be.

That contract looked terrible from the jump, but yeah, now it's horrific. I do feel for him. I honestly thought he was better than his last stint with the Pens and was just in some kind of mental funk, but man, he's bad.

I thought the biggest takeaway was his desire to add. Sounds like they're looking at hockey trades. No futures.

Figures... Now Kap hurt. Every f'n year with this team.

I have wondered for years...there has to be a reason for this. It cannot be 15 years of coincidence that the penguins are consistently near the top for injuries. Whether it is a staff or training or style of play thing or a combination, it should definitely be evaluated heavily.

If it is a training or staff thing, thats a huge problem. If you can let that slide for this long, heads should roll.

If it is a style of play type of thing, then i guess, you just live with it, because we have 3 cups in 15 years of Crosby.

I lean more towards its being a product of style of play, but still it should be addressed some how.

Who on Arizona would be of any interest to Pitt? Crouse would fit the long pants mould but aside from that doesn’t add all that much. Barrett hayton who was a good prospect that can’t seem to make even Arizona’s team?

Hockey writers are getting way too excited about the game last night. Buffalo is beyond terrible. This shouldn't be a litmus test of any kind. Don't get me wrong, I'm very happy the Pens had a commanding victory, but it's Buffalo. I mean, ERod looked like a real NHL hockey player last night.

With all the injuries he's not going anywhere anytime soon. Obviously this is a super small sample size, but he's looked better than Jank, Lafferty and Sceviour, so when healthy I'd like to see him take someone's spot.

People cling to Simon's one good season...like when he had good underlying numbers for one season ...playing with Sid but still had pretty sh!t production for being on a 1st line a lot.

For me personally I just think he has good hockey IQ and you can tell when watching him play. He didn't get to play 1st line for Czech Republic with Jagr for no reason. He's good all around just couldn't finish much.

Limiting it to one shortened season seems like an odd choice of an argument. Expand it over a couple seasons and you'll see that Simon is superior.

https://www.naturalstattr...&td=&tgp=410&lines=single

Also if you look at rates per 60, Simon is better as well.
