That trade isn’t fair for the Flames. They give the superior player and a better pick? I’d be highly upset by that trade.

People complain about Gaudreau’s playoff performances but Konecny is statistically worse in the playoffs.

- Ol_Boy_Wop

Cant agree with you on that, Konecky is signed for 4 more years after that & is definitely a top 6 RW that we have been searching high & low for. Johnny is a hair away from being a rental. So if we wait until this time next year a Rental like Johnny will get a late 1st & a couple of prospects (maybe one of them decent) from a contender. Konecny is an established top 6 RW & yeah he's struggled in the playoff bubble & he has missed 6 games this year for Covid protocol I believe. Its a deal I think Flames & Flyers make before the TDL to get the quarantine clock ticking. If we have to add a pick whatever.

I think it was the Athletic that had that article, but it doesn’t matter who wrote it, it’s a good trade suggestion for both teams. With papa Gaudreau hired by the Flyers to coach their u15 team, we know Johnnys not staying. Flyers need a shakeup, Flame need an asset. Kornecny would be a good fit here, he’s Bo Horvat’s cousin and is younger and cheaper. He would definitely fit the Sutter type.

Not sure why no coach has put Johnny on the right side where he played in Boston.
Tkachuk, Lindholm, Gaudreau could be a true #1 line

Really disappointed in Monahan, he’s been next to invisible this year. Not sure how to change that or get him into the game. For the top goal scorer from his draft class it’s really frustrating to watch. Not sure if there’s a team out there that would be interested in giving up picks and prospects for him.

Why does Treliving continue to look for right wing help when we have one of the better RW in the AHL? Mathew Phillips has put up good numbers the last 2 years. He’s leading 5he team in scoring and would have last year if it wasn’t for the injury. Googles my mind that they continue to recycle ufa’s and don’t play the kids.

This team needs an injection of talent and some of the Heat players deserve an opportunity. It’s not like we’re running away with the division, to continue to sign so called player castoffs is crazy.

Some here still feel if Markstrom can up his save percentage to .915 that the Flames could be playing for 1st in the North. Then on the other side saying Rittich needs to play more. I agree Rittich needs to play more but he hasn’t been the same since his stick flip vs the Oilers last year. He need to seize his opportunity when given and make it hard not to play him.

K I’ve vented enough, hows everyone feel about this?

- K-man25

I really think they should break up those two sooner than later. Agree Gaudreau Lindholm Tkachuk would be a bonafide top line. Keep Backlund Lucic & Magpie together as they are playing decent together & build around Monahan with whatever is left, Bennett, Ritchie, Dube whatever. Maybe play Monahan with two wings that can go in the corners & win the puck, maybe Monny will get more high scoring chances & pot a few goals even strength. By all means play them together on the power play.

In one playoff run? Hardly of statistical meaning... For me, it's about maximizing asset value. Otherwise you end up with a return like we got for Iggy - basically pure dogpoop.

I think JG would do better in the east. Out west its not his kind of hockey. I think Sutter is not his kind of coach.

Anyways, cannot watch the game. How are they playing?

Monny needs to just shoot the puck more... simple as that... that chance he had and he elected to keep the puck rather than shooting it was not good. He is good at shooting the puck so please shoot the puck Mony... we can't afford to loose this game.

It’s not about the playoffs, we don’t have to worry until we’re actually a playoff team.
The risk for Philly is higher, they give up an asset for a player they probably get for free. We all know that Johnnys not happy in Calgary and will bolt to Philadelphia as soon as he’s a free agent. Adding a 2nd and getting a 4th is meh.
This is a no brainer for me,as I’ve watched Johnny under Sutters guidance and he’s useless. He’s not a forecheck go in the corner type at all. He’s playing scared right now and it shows.
Let’s take what we can get and move on.

- K-man25

We don't know that. I'd say the only person that knows that is Gaudreau himself.

I'm not saying that getting Konecny would be a bad idea or even that giving up Gaudreau for him is, rather, that if you're giving up the better player you shouldn't be giving up the better pick, too.

Speaking of playing scared, has anyone seen Tkachuk lately?

You really are an idiot if you take everything Eric Francis writes as gospel. Gaudreau has repeatedly said that he loves playing in Calgary and wants to win with Calgary. Athletes rarely play for their hometown team and rarely move home as soon as they're free agents.

If the Flames are willing to give Gaudreau a fair contract, there's no reason to think he won't finish his career in Calgary. It's going to come down to whether the Flames want to commit another 6+ years.

Gaudreau is to soft. Yeah he scored a nice goal but was way to weak on the boards on the winning goal. Horrible! Maybe we should fire sutter?

That's not the point. The point is it's going to be the Flames who decide what happens with Gaudreau and not Gaudreau desperately trying to play for Philly. Where's all the talk about Tkachuk desperately trying to get to St. Louis?

Sutter was bad hire given the roster they have.

No love for Gio falling down? Gaudreau gets beaten senseless by this fan base. The Flames just aren't a very good team, apparently. Tkachuk looks bad, Backlund looks bad, Lindholm has been just ok recently, Gio - bad, Ras - bad.

It also doesn't matter how soft Gaudreau is if the rest of the team makes up for it. The entire team is too soft.

Not sure JG is much better than TK but I agree Phily should throw in the kicker in this trade. That said 1.25 in cap savings would not be nothing!
As far as Chucky goes he wasn't scared of Holl last game when Johnny got his tits lit!
